Nah it takes a bit away from friendly neighborhood when you have a camera system . Also wasn’t really necessary. He could have seen social media reports or live news to eventually find her . Something less invasive

One thing I noticed about this film that I didn’t before, this kind of feels like a great starting point for the “new” MCU
Spider-Man is established with many heroes but you don’t need to know much about any of them and it still works. Like it’s been said before it’s a lived in world. This movie setting the stage for the Mutant Saga is done very well
