saying marvel is 'rushing production but werent when chadwick was alive' is a big big lie lol

movie had been in development since atleast the release of the previous one

release was slated for the same time its now (2022)

I would say Chadwick and Lupita characters got married and are starting a family somewhere. Panther just saved the universe so he can take some time off lol. Make it about the other characters

that’s not exactly what I said. they were taking their time with the production process when he was alive and now that he’s gone they’re continuing to move forward without any hesitation. You’d think his death would’ve resulted in a pause in production or some push backs but nope.

It’s only been two months since he died and the movie is moving along fine without him. There’s nothing at stake here, they can easily wait but Industrial cinema really some trash. It only took about 2 seconds after his death was announced before people started talking about recasting and replacing him with Shuri which is just sad.

I don’t think audiences are going to be quick to accept another person in the role of T’Challa either. The best and most respectable decision they could’ve made would’ve been to wait awhile before announcing any new movement on the project.

The way some of y’all are acting like this a Brandon Lee situation where the studio and production team had no choice but to move forward lol

By how fast BL2 is gonna start filming, TO ME, it seems like Chadwick already had convos with Disney about his condition.

I highly doubt he didn’t tell at least Feige something about him being sick. I’m sure they talked about it and kept it a secret and that only a handful of people knew. They probably already were in the process of recasting just in case

The fact it seems like the script seems like they barely changed anything, maybe Coogler knew and this will get taken into account?

  • Nov 29, 2020

The fact is, WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED BEHIND THE SCENES

We have no choice but to give Disney the benefit of the doubt that they will handle this respectfully

    John David Washington for T’Challa

    It’s only right

This or the gay darkskin dude from Moonlight or dude who played the blue nigga from Watchmen HBO show

    So many potential candidates

Would be ridiculous to kill off T'Challa until the next reboot like Chadwick wasn't a whole entire person outside of this character

Seems pretty disrespectful that they’re still rushing out

Marvel was incredibly slow with getting BP2 into production when Chadwick was alive so why rush now? How about giving your cast & crew time to grieve & figure out how they want to move forward. It hasn’t even been a year since Chad passed away

but whatever I guess, this is industrial cinema at its worse.

it's more disrespectful to boseman's family to act like he was only this character and not an actual person lol

and if they stretch this s*** out for 5-10 years about boseman being t'challa it would probably make his kids feel even weirder and even more tougher to move on/accept it

Also would go against everything a female black panther would represent if they rush it and have no long term plan to give the character 3-5 movies a la Thor Cap and Iron Man.

Give Shuri a Disney + show with multiple seasons genuinely leading up to her taking the mantle after T'Challa's trilogy.

I just think they shouldn't even do a sequel at all. I really enjoy the first film, but with Chadwick's passing, I think they should just move on and let the first film stand on it's own

Yeah f*** what the character meant to millions of black kids globally and what more films and maybe a cartoon/games/etc. and the joy that would bring to black kids who rarely get to see black superheroes headline (and the effect that would have on miles morales, static, etc. getting more visibility moving forward)

because capitalism bad and corporation evil lol

t'challa getting a full trilogy and the character being well represented is important for the next 20 years of black superhero the way that Spiderman and The Dark Knight had that effect on the next 10-20 years of their respective subgenres.

  • Nov 29, 2020

IMO they should give him one last RIP message before the Marvel Studios logo to get it out the way before you even get immersed into the movie then have it pick up where they left off with the new actor. No T'Challa death scene or alternate universe T'Challa. Just act like nothing happened tbh.

I don’t think waiting a year before starting production implies that a studio or anyone only sees Chadwick as T’Challa. He’s already been talked about being nominated for Da 5 Bloods and before Black Panther he was already seen as the go to actor for black historical films.

also I never said wait 5 years lol a year would’ve been fine. 2 seconds after the man died is sketchy to me. It makes me believe studios move like factories, it doesn’t matter how integral a person is to your film you’re still seen as replaceable.

Maybe I’m looking at everything from a cynical point of view but this wouldn’t be the first time a studio put business over showing some compassion for the death of their lead actor.

I mean 5-10 years as far as Disney forever linking Boseman to T’Challa and wakanda forever arms out of “guilt” from the same sentiment u reference at the end of your post

I can’t look at this as “big business priotizing over compassion” bc as a black man who grew up wanting to see more representation to me it’s about T’Challa getting more opportunities to tell stories on screen rather than the money Disney makes off of this
