If Robert Downey Jr. unfortunately passed away after the first Iron Man, would you recast or continue the story with no Tony Stark & Rhodes becoming Iron Man (like he did in the comics)?
feel like if that happened all of the MCU wouldve never happened tbh
also depends on which actor u would get as a replacement
i also dont think anyone could ever play the same black panther as chadwick, actors always put some parts of themselves in the character, so if we got a new actor the black panther could very well be very different than the black panther we're used to
so thats why id rather just have a new character than recast
i can see why some would rather have a recast tho, but above is why im personally not a fan of recasting characters
rhodey in IM1 to rhodey in IM2 is a good example, character is very different

This is not a good comparison, Tchalla had already had an arc before his own movie & he’s been in like 4 movies, & his powers are inherited which lends itself to it being passed down to his son etc

You're bringing up a lot of points that don't matter. The future after of the MCU w/o RDJ has nothing to do with what I ask.
You say nobody can play T'Challa like Chadwick and that's true. People say that about every Peter Parker, Bruce Wayne, Joker, ect. actor that has come through and played the role. Chadwick doesn't own T'Challa. I'm pretty sure he'd say that if he was alive.

Your whole argument seems like it boils down to an emotional attachment to the character and the actor. I'm saying this is an illogical reason to get rid of a character that is central to Black Panther, relating to the comics and culture. T'Challa is Black Panther. Bruce Wayne is Batman (even though Alfred dawned the suit).

i just was commenting on what u said
i dont think that comparison works bc all those actors had their own stories / origins etc
bruce banner is something u could mention, but even ruffalo banner and norton banner are so different that i couldnt care less if they didnt name ruffalo bruce banner tbh, but then again i dont put much weight into names like that
i personally would like a new character to become the long-term black panther with shuri taking the mantle for 1 movie or something
btw i dont think theres a wrong answer with recasting or not, both have pros and cons imo

You're never going to find a comparison that is 100% similar. Liam McIntyre replaced Andy Whitfield in Spartacus when he was diagnosed with cancer. The show went on for an extra two seasons I believe.

Not at all, it’s not even that I don’t think someone could do a good job but tchalla already has definite moments including a heart to heart with his dad from the afterlife ffs, the hero is a mantle so to me it’s more lazy to recast, instead of having someone inherit the responsibility

At this point recasting is the same as introducing a new character, so might as introduce a character in an organic way (his son etc ), instead of treating it like a tv show

agree

If I'm wrong, I hope everything works out. Because when that trailer drops and there's no T'Challa... the vibe is going to be completely off and people are gonna start waking up and having second thoughts.
Dam. I turn 30 on 11.22.22
Yo we got the same birthday
I'm not a fossil like you tho yet
Why everyone else like Rhodey and Bruce banner can be recast but t challa gotta be killed off right after his big introduction? S***s stupid af

Bp has been in 4 movies 3 of which heavily effect the mcu compared to those 2 who have only been in one and neither have a huge impact on the mcu. Rhodey is barley in the first iron man and Fiege tries to forget the hulk even happened. That's how i see it anyways.
