What, you mean there are multiple things children can play with to occupy their time other than an ipad

Schools and the education system in this country are outdated and have not been effective in educating the youth for a long time.

We need a complete overhaul and create a modern redesign of our schools and education system otherwise the problem will continue to get worse.

the parents can actually start giving a f*** and stop throwing an ipad in front of them. its called responsibility.

People say this all the time but I was thrown in front of a computer or a TV or a Gameboy when I was a kid in the 90s a lot but my schooling didn’t have any negative effects. I also spent a lot of time playing outside and playing with toys, but I do think technology can play its role.

I think with all the resources available, the smarter, more motivated kids will get smarter and the dumber, less motivated kids will get dumber causing a bimodal intelligence divide

Or we’ll get a Dunning–Kruger effect on a mass scale

True, but with parental controls on devices now parents should be able to manage this. Obviously a ton don’t so yeah you’re right it goes back to the parenting.

It’s possible. We can go weeks without technology and the kids just spend the entire time in their playroom or outside. It’s not hard to tell a child no and they’ll have no choice but to find the next thing entertaining or ask you to play with them

millennial parents are too obsessed with “breaking the cycle of trauma” to actually make sure their kids are educated

Nothing more traumatizing than learning to read and count

I would honestly rather see a kid holding a Nintendo switch any day over an ipad with full internet access.
