think I shared my thoughts in this thread already but it ends too many times. too sluggish of a film (length is a problem). saw it twice in theaters. even that second time something just felt hollow about the movie. I can't really explain it, but I just didn't feel much excitement from watching
tried re-watching at home but got bored after like 20 minutes. I think the idea of the film is better than what the actual product ended up being. I think of scene and how the film looks and get the feeling that I want to watch it, but never end up committing to it. I'm still going to be watching Part II and am excited for it tho
I think the super realistic Batman is just played out. I'd personally like to see Batman fight aliens or unrealistic things in the world like in the comics and the animated series. This is probably why I think I'm more excited for the DCU Batman coming
100%
The story shouldn’t have continued after Maroni’s assassination, and definitely not to reiterate the lesson of inspiring hope > vengeance in a lesser fashion (strong symbolic Moses-esque imagery aside)
I’ve said it a few times, but the 3rd act of The Batman was very crucial to Bruce’s character development imo.
If you end the film before the flood, what has Bruce really learned about himself and his role in Gotham?
He needed to save thousands of people for him to see he needs to be a beacon of light rather than vengeance. Beating people to an inch of their life didn’t bring him fulfillment , saving thousands did
I mean yea the 3rd act is the worst section of the film overall, but i still see it as a necessary part of his character development

Damn. I think you hit.
After I saw this my girl wanted to see it after it got to HBO Max and that wouldve been my first rewatch. She fell asleep right after the opening murder and I put on a different movie for me to enjoy. Hadn't gone back since. But I do want to see part 2 lol I think it's because I'm invested in Batman as a whole. The character itself (dcau+comics).
lmao
idk if yall remember this dude said michael uslan stole his pitch from the 90s and slid it to matt reeves

We need them to get the basics of women being mrore than s***objects and characters to kill to motivate the protagonist before we get to well written cramps and other symptoms or struggles of being a woman
