Alright then how could u know about D'Banj success (also knowing that he was part of GOOD Music) and say that Drake someway somehow was the one who gave legitimacy to afrobeats.

Secondly you probably know that afrobeats have always been a huuggee thing in Europe (mainly in UK and France) with artists never shying away from their roots. The idea that Drake somehow solidified afrobeats when they were actually well alive and moving huge units is kinda comical.

Controlla or any other song didn't do s*** but stay in Drake's circle I can't think of any other artist outside of Toronto (PND, Roy Woods...) who decided that they were going to follow that lane.

You’re being purposefully ignorant if that first paragraph really a question. There’s no way I need to break it down to you if you pay attention to the scene + The change in energy and attention post that moment. S***s undeniable 💀 people just get scared to credit drake for s*** for some reason lol

afrobeat was already blowing up in europe by the time this remix came out, the song was just a part of a bigger movement

We're finally expecting a release from Kendrick, Cole, and Drake coming so so soon. Either this month for K dot or June, OR Drake extremely soon.

This may be the true "future" of the 2020's defining sound for rap. We're pretty much at the point in time where the stuff from the late 2010's is not aging very well and the stuff that recycles the beats and instrumentals from it and also song styles have gone stale.

So let's prepare everyone we're finally gonna see a change

You're setting yourself up for disappointment with expecting Drake and Kendrick to drop soon simply because Cole is dropping next week.

I’m assuming then that’s the release Sony had in mind and then Monster 2 dropping later this year or in winter.

  • May 8, 2021

Alot of faith in a Kendrick drop when slowly but surely his headlining festivals are being cancelled. He has 2 shows left that are still on but if they get cancelled soon then im not expecting an album until late this year/early 2022

If music changes in any way it wont be because of Kendrick or Cole but Drake only. He has influenced many artists and popularized some genres
