The music is a product of the culture but the music also perpetuates and drives the culture. So it’s tricky. It starts with giving the community the attention it deserves and I think that’s what Mayor Adams is trying to do with this on a very micro level. It may not be the best way to go about it but at least he’s making an effort.

Obviously it starts with community resources, increased funding for community programs, etc. but the music has also had an undeniable effect on setting the culture. Both could be true.
