You expect the government to address the root issue of anything, lol?

Do I expect it? No, of course not. Do you see the people ITT saying this is a good move? So I’m gonna state my opinion on the matter, naturally

it's always funny when they want to address the music itself and not what leads the artists to talk their s*** on their raps.

    f***ing dumb.

this is just sprinkling gasoline on the fire.

solve the actual source of the problem for once ffs

Yeah man its definitely the music causing the rise in crime. Video games and movies might be playing a role too

The drill music isn’t the cause of the violence but it’s definitely glorifying an active violent culture in inner cities. It’s worth having a discussion about

At least mayor didn’t resort to straight banning artists from the city like Chicago

    internet buddy

The media loves to act like all rappers are gang members when in reality all gang members are rappers. Gangs are the problem, not rap.

yeah i agree that’s kinda what i meant to say

it’s not the music but some of the people involved with it (not all)

Don’t even need to ban them because they can’t get booked anywhere, NYPD says they’re safety concerns and cancels the show

I'd argue that the after effects of the pandemic, lack of social safety nets, and the toll the last 2 years have had on mental health as way more likely causes than drill music. Remember crime is up across the country not just new york.

Music plays a big part in the way people perceive and carry themselves. Lets stop undermining the impact music has on us. That’s not to say it’s 100% the fault of the music tho

True but thats an indictment of parenting.

Competent parents can provide context for that kind of entertainment so that the child knows not to build thier image around it
