title, if its been like a year or so i'll listen and be in awe. but if i relisten in a week i just kind of think, damn i feel like this album shows everything it has to offer very explicity.
do yall remember that interview where he says how mbdtf isnt really his favorite because it doesnt say anything new and is really safe?
I don't share the same opinion
i feel that, goat time to be a fan too. what are your favs on their that keep you coming back and back?

There is nothing safe about his lyrics on Power, Gorgeous or Hell Of A Life lol s*** even the Blame Game skit
Nigga the rawness and self awareness on Runaway…like bruh don’t get me started lol
Ye just says headass stuff like this all the time
because
1) he will never top MBDTF again in terms of critical acclaim and knows it
2) He loves to be a contrarian any chance he gets. “Oh everybody loves MBDTF? Yeah I hate this album, it’s not that even that good”
Don’t confuse “safe” with taking your time and perfecting his craft….Instead of rushing s*** like he did the albums afterwards.
If anything TLOP is the “safe” mainstream album.
i kinda agree with OP. i rarely listen to MBDTF. but anytime i do, i'm reminded of how good it is. if i listened to it daily, it wouldn't hit as much.
basically, MBDTF is a very rich meal. sometimes you need fast food to cleanse the palate
theres a lot of poignant music out there that I lack the desire to return to
and then there's songs like junya

I can agree with this.
It’s not something I can play all the time like Graduation. But MBDTF is far from safe. Nothing on the radio sounds like Power even til this day.

this is my favorite response

i feel you, safe was his word he used in the interview not mine. I just find myself thinking like all my favorite moments, are the million beat switches in a song kind of ye. I do think youre right that hes a contrarian but i also just kind of feel like he knew he needed to make some crowd pleasers for sure. also this is totally just me but its def not my favorite production style from him either
If Kanye said it was his best nobody would make threads like this. But he's always fighting the consensus so we end up with people finding wack reasons to s*** on a classic. It's so perfect it's boring? How are any of these songs boring?
i still return to MBDTF occasionally and find new pockets of it to enjoy & that keeps it fresh
but for everyday listens i prefer s*** that isn't as grandiose. Stuff that I wouldn't have to worry about growing off
Literally makes zero sense
“It’s too good and that’s boring! I hate when albums are flawless masterpieces! Boring!”
how many people were saying this before kanye said it himself
Nobody and kanye is cap too
Wear a suit for a week like you're in the Rosewood Era. Can't relate man, this album is fresh and is situational ill too lol
