Smacked VoodooFam if you know it don't apply to you and hopefully many other black men in your life then it should be automatically assumed that it's "some" not all and it's just a stressed or triggered trauma influenced generalization that is unfortunately also supported by many personal accounts by black women along with statistical evidence.
I don't f***in like hearing that kinda s*** either forreal it hurts. But it's one of the big reasons why we should be more active in dispelling that narrative instead of talking over and arguing with the group on the receiving end of violence by us.
And I'm not accusing you or y'all ITT of perpetuating this violence. I would hope y'all actively love, support, and protect the black women in your lives. I just feel that maybe it's fair and probably much easier to focus the frustration of that kind of accusation on the some of niggas who ain't s***, since it's understood amongst us that it isn't all black men, who are making us look bad.
But y'all already know my stance on this black masculinity thing

the knee jerk response is super understandable but we, as black men should listen to these critiques and a***yze any past behaviors we've exhibited or things we've witness to understand why black women may feel this way.

I work on myself in real life, there’s nothing for us in here. If it means anything though I see your point and I agree and respect it, we shouldn’t be so hung up on the small things because that’s the oldest trick in the book when ppl don’t want to address the actual issue

so, maybe I'm a bit confused. Can you explain to me how you define oppression? Because at least the way I'm reading it, it seems as if you're saying that only White people can be oppressers
the way I understand oppression is using whatever power you have to keep someone down. in this case by using your societal privilege (White, straight, cis, male, able-bodied, etc.)

Jul 17, 2020I think in this day and age you are unfortunately bound to get memes around any topic no matter how serious.
I think Meg makes a good point in terms black women's problems and pain not being taken seriously and they deserve to have their voices heard. I remembered telling a friend our women have the highest infant mortality rates and he was genuinely shocked.
To say this entire topic has been laughed at rather than taken serious though does a disservice to all the posts and comments hoping Meg is okay. It’s just easier for negative comments to affect your spirit and clearly this is what has happened with Meg

Enlighten BrotherY’all wanna have a dialogue but start start off generalizing all black men. I was raised by a single black woman and respect all black women wether it’s family or not. How do you expect me to react if you saying something crazy and accusing me of something I didn’t do?
A female can hang around the wrong dude and something bad happens now it’s every black man fault. Now I’m an embarrassment, now I don’t protect black women. Y’all gotta stop with that
everyone has a different definition of respect. perhaps something you have done within your 20+ years of living has been taken as "disrespectful" by a black women? all black women are asking for is for black men to look at themselves and correct behavior that needs correcting. if you've already taken inventory and believe that you are perfect in your interactions with black women, then where's the issue in black women calling out the black men who aren't like you?
