I feel like we're gotten way past the Meg/Tory situation with this discussion

I can't find the clip on youtube but anyone itt remember the Chappelle bit from, i think Bird Revolution where he talked about how Black women would protect the black men on the plantation that would rape/hurt them because they were scared of what the slave master would do to the man?

it's the idea that a black women in pain will suppress that when speaking with an authority figure because they don't want to ruin the man's life. That level of empathy isn't mutual

It's a simple way of breaking it down. Yeah she might of been hanging with him or f***ing him but in her mind the gun shot wound will heal, the damage that police can do to Tory won't.

Sure black men can and do benefit from sexism but how does that make them oppressors

homie removed the word y'all are all beefing about, only for you to agree with his alternative wording and THEN reintroduce it to the conversation?

    real

the knee jerk response is super understandable but we, as black men should listen to these critiques and a***yze any past behaviors we've exhibited or things we've witness to understand why black women may feel this way.

    literally that's it. listen.

so, maybe I'm a bit confused. Can you explain to me how you define oppression? Because at least the way I'm reading it, it seems as if you're saying that only White people can be oppressers

the way I understand oppression is using whatever power you have to keep someone down. in this case by using your societal privilege (White, straight, cis, male, able-bodied, etc.)

This is the definition of oppressor

"keep (someone) in subservience and hardship, especially by the unjust exercise of authority."

Intersectionality is people fitting into different social categories

People under certain class have no grounds or authority in this society to use "authority" to subjugate a group of people.

sexism isn't exclusive to white people

Black men don't even have the means to oppress white women in any significant way

Much of white feminism has even been a direct backlash against black people (specifically black men) gaining more rights

I’m all for the whole protecting black women movement but it’s lowkey slowly turning into a anti black men wave which can be destructive for the community

The whole “ niggas ain’t s*** “ been a meme for years but deadass it’s starting to turn into a serious movement in which in turn is spawning anti black men narratives/propaganda which makes y’all look bad or worse.... it may cause a massive irreparable rift between us all

They root their black male oppressor claim on intracommunal violence because there is no comparison between the patriarchal structure of gender in the white community and gender relations in the black community.

The problem is, if you don't study those statistics to confirm your bias that black males are innately violent, you'll learn that black males are the biggest victims of IPV, CSA, and physical child abuse of any male group outside of Indgenious folks and black women are the biggest perpetrators of said violence amongst any female group outside of Indgenious folks.

If some "negrosphere" loser ass dude decided to weaponize statistics to attack black women it would rightly be called out as misogynoir. Why is seen as progressive to do that with black men and boys?

All goes back to racism and scapegoatism. Someone has to take the fall and remain at the bottom. Which is why challenging and pointing out unreasonable differentials in systemic racism is met with pushback when it comes to defense of black boys and men. You have a group that is under constant microscopic supervision by society and actually having to face those repercussions who aren't allowed to speak for themselves. Which is why I don't listen to dumb niggas who say toughen up and pull yourself up on some bootstrap s***. That's exactly what we are doing and that's why we are so f***ed up.

Black men's "oppression" of white women is based on the fact that this is a patriarchal society we are in where men have more advantages over women based solely on them just being a man.

So on technicality, yeah I guess bLaCk MeN oPpReSs CaVe B****eS, by definition. But in reality...white women have been historically capable of getting niggas clapped QUICK and all they gotta do is lie. So while yes, I understand power dynamics between male and female, I ain't really tryna hear it when it's black men and white women.

Anyway white women trash. Protect black women. I ain't looking to argue in this thread

U cant remove the word lol that wasnt his original point he literally said black men can be oppressors of white woman

That's a big distinction of benefiting from sexism that's not what the argument was bout

Black men don't even have the means to oppress white women in any significant way

Much of white feminism has even been a direct backlash against black people (specifically black men) gaining more rights

A primary talking point of many suffragettes in the 1920s was that black men don't deserve the right to vote because they aren't patriarchal enough and share too many gender roles as black women, cooking, cleaning, rearing children etc. 1st generation feminism was white women wanting a greater role in white supremacist patriarchy.
