In most cases with rappers getting swindled, it's usually the types that are either written off as idiots or their persona is that of someone who doesn't have an ego about their intelligence.

A huge aspect to the praise Meg has received is that she's college educated and that gave her an air of looking smarter and superior to the Cardi, City Girls types, esp. when considering her rapping.
