Misogyny. Deep down, all these losers that defended and still are defending Tory, wanted to prove women are liars with this case to feed their sick view of women
I see this with any story involving women and men, both genders lie yes but for some reason when it comes to rape and violence towards women it’s never believed unless it’s video evidence or a direct witness to the crime.
My aunts ex husband beat the s*** out of her in front of me and their son (we were little) because she came home an hour late from work due to being a tuck in traffic and literally everybody including other family members didn’t believe her and the sad s*** is me and my cousin never told people what we witnessed and defended my then uncle too who also denied it and swore to god. then he brainwashed her and made her tell people he didn’t beat her either.
S*** is weird bruh, even I’m on the fence at times when believing women even when I know like 90% of the time they’re not lying in situations of being raped or violently beat. And the only reason I say most don’t lie, is because it’s hard to prove and the abuser rarely faces consequences due to the long and costly process of trying to prove it.
TLDR: b****es be lying, but alot of them tell the truth when speaking on abuse

The defences mistake is they didn’t clearly paint a picture of what went down - they tried relying on all the inconsistencies and the prosecutions horrible case to win.
They should have vetted what Kelly said and crafted their narrative around his statement.
Saying something like this:
“The girls were in a brutal fight in the streets. Kelsey who was losing went back into the SUV and retrieved “her” firearm. At this point the bodyguard and Tory engaged her in scruffle a shot was fired by Kelsey towards Megan. Tory took the gun away from Kelsey and as Kelsey started to get aggressive with me Tory fired the gun in the air to try and defuse the situation and expel all bullets from the gun so it couldn’t be used.”
They should have painted Tory as a protector of black women as he saved Meg from being killed by Kelsey.

It’s kind of like when I heard Joe budden s***ting on Meg for being unkind to his industry friends so in turn he was against her in this trial. when realistically all of his exes have accused and proven he’s abused them But they never received justice because it’s costly to prove.
He has faced no consequences, so psychologically he tried to discredit another abused woman to create a narrative that women especially if they sleep around all lie and men who are accused (even if they have a long rap sheet of violence and lying) are always innocent.
