If you were really around in OF days them first 2 mellowhype tapes were LOVED within the fanbase

Hodgy branched out and worked with other producers before Domo did.

I think at a certain point Earl coming home and Domo getting a lot better just dropped the hype around Hodgy. Rappers were checking for Earl or Domo first

He mentions a lot in his music and interviews people being depressing or too heavy on d**** etc some examples are Run from Cherry Bomb, Pothole from Flower Boy, Crust In Their Eyes loosie etc but I dont think hes talking about the entirety of Odd Future

Hes still pretty close friends w Earl, Domo and his main friend group of course. Him and Hodgy definitely weren’t cool for a while though

I guess I meant featuring other artists not just producers. I remember Mellowhype in general had a f*** anyone that ain’t OF mindset the whole time. Tyler getting outside features on Wolf is what made him standout a bit more and Earl linking with Mac def helped too

Facts. I really thought Hodgy was gonna be bigger tbh he had the look, flow, bars, etc but I guess he didn’t work as hard

Blackenedwhite captures the OF energy best of any project arguably. Dark but youthful energy

I don’t think that really hurt Mellowhype tbh because I don’t think they were turning down anything major. The first 2 albums they weren’t big and they made the majority of Numbers not being big, and the next project they did had a couple big features and it didn’t really help anything tbh. I think Mellowhype specifically Hodgy didnt blow up because his demographic was already limited and then he got inconsistent when the spotlight on them. On top of that he hated interviews and never showed his personality in interviews.

Vs Domo who only got better with time and went hard on every feature he did, and also was going out of his way to do press whenever he could. You could just tell Domo had a way different hunger than Hodgy did tbh.

Blackendwhite is definitely on par w Earl and B******, thats like the OG OF trinity imo

I also put some blame on OF Records

Idk what happened with the Numbers album and the rollout, but they shouldn’t have bothered with putting the shortened Blackenedwhite out on CD and just rolled out Numbers in that moment (OG Numbers with all number titles it definitely existed)

Them and Domo were really good, it’s a shame they didn’t blow at the same level as T or Earl

F*** yes, such a great album. Left Brain is one underrated producer as well. Blackenedwhite is the best OF album that's not from Tyler or Earl

Idk what to tell you he had like 5 distinct sounding eras lol. If you followed OF that kinda sucks you missed out with mac since he paralleled most of that sound
