Y'all I'm genuinely at a loss about our community. Keep in mind I'm only talking to black people with this post.
We've had incredible thought leaders over the years and legitimately powerful civil movements but it seems as if the community has failed to internalize any of it. Because what the f*** is going on with some of our men?!
Why does seemingly such a big portion of our men spout this anti feminist, homophobic, "I got mine so f*** so f*** you" type of attitude? The podcasts can't be that influential can they?
what? nobody was thinking abt those white ppl packing heat i swear
u are reaching and u know it
Aight bruh lol
when some s*** like this happens, i think it's obviously fair to be outraged at the perp, and it's obviously fair to feel bad for the victim. idk if it's fair to blame all the ppl who happened to be in the vicinity when this s*** happened tho, like just bc they didn't put themselves in harm's way for a complete stranger doesn't mean they cosign what happened. u wanna blame someone, blame the guy w the brick. this s*** is solely on that dude.
weird how we don't do this w other crimes, like if someone gets shot we don't blame everyone around for not jumping in front of the bullet, but then in certain cases we're super quick to place a huge amt of blame + responsibility on bystanders.
Because a gun/bullet is 100x times lethal to people around it than a singular man that’s targeting one woman.
Once again: Preventative. Measures.
@BigDckBandit niggas dont know how to read dawg lol
blows my mind that some guy can pick up a brick and slam it across a woman's face and ppl immediately start talking as if that's a community wide issue

Those white people were a persistent problem for years, that had multiple incidents that included law enforcement
I think equating both situations is insane, but I can't act like them white people weren't inciting violence and mayhem on employees and patrons
Under no circumstances should a man hit a woman
The Twitter discourse is wild though. There's black guys on Twitter looking at her social media to find reasons to hate her. This is the same energy as white guys posting pics of a guy who got shot by the cops smoking a blunt and saying "See he wasn't no saint!"

yeah a gun is more dangerous but i feel like ur underestimating how intimidating a crazy dude w a brick can be

Except in Alabama it’s legal to carry without a permit so realistically it wasnt a wise choice for all them niggas to come down cause possibly one of them cacs coulda let the burner out and wouldve had self defense “fear for his life” bullshit.
Black men just find white men more fadeable than black men on most occasions.

So I'm partially with you, what is disturbing though is the extremely easy to find discourse about how and why she deserved it. Why is victim blaming so acceptable in our community in particular?

Same crazy dude didnt just have a brick in his pocket lol
You coulda easily stepped in or said something prior to him having said brick.

Because it speaks to black men’s utter lack of inner conflict resolution when it comes to situations of anger.

Is that victim blaming, or an explanation of the on site reaction?

i think ppl just feel a way abt her bc she's kinda pushing the idea that all men are cool w what happened to her. if ur a guy and u see that video, it's easy to feel like she's antagonizing u. so one natural response is to respond w spite.
obviously she's not to blame for that, she just got hit w a brick, she can feel some type of way abt it. it's unfortunate that social media blew this up how it did tho

Because the government either killed em, they turned sell out, they gave up, or they fell off.
This is also quiet as kept, another case of late stage capitalism and the isolation of our society furthering us away from a sense of community where everyone just cared about each other more and left they doors unlocked.
My pops grew up in the 70s in the projects. By his admission s*** like this wouldnt have went down back then or at least without immediate retaliatory consequences.
If more people was outside and like…forced to actually participate within their own said communities and the people in it?
This s*** doesnt happen nearly as much. Cause it’s no longer “dangerous strangers” anymore when you know “yo bro move on, sorry shawty that’s Crazy Tyreek off 74th he got some issues with rejection his moms tryna get him some help.”
Same crazy dude didnt just have a brick in his pocket lol

hindsight is 20 20 tbh, yes someone could have done that but how were they supposed to tell it was gonna turn nasty.
look my point is just that we can't assume the bystanders were cool w what happened just bc they didn't intervene

Churches declining in being pushed on younger generations, War on D****/Mass incarceration of black men, US government war on prominent leftist and radical movements (and black people’s role in them), whitewashing/erasure of the few black history parts we are allowed to learn, black culture becoming a commodity of itself and being the main export of how black ppl are viewed worldwide due to how pervasive American culture is.
all contributes to this

Been my overall thought process of that situation is although people were obviously glad to see the vigilante through community that it’s a miracle nothing worse came about that. Out of 10 times down there s*** man at least half of them going south quickly

When the guy made a motion to turn and pick up a brick.
The same way I had to step in when this b**** nigga made a motion before trying to strike m friend after she yelled at him (and threw money that he disrespectfully gave at her back in his face.)
Like c’mon all black ppl know the universal signs when s*** can go left and most times it be they own niggas that they don’t ever hold accountable that be like that.

phones + social media are a huge factor in this imo
