Mgs2 >> 3
But 4 would sell on the name alone imo. After this Vol 1 collection you would have access to every game needed to understand it. Idk it’s an unfairly hated game I prob played it the most followed by 3
Oh, I still enjoy MGS4. But if they're doing remakes or ports, it makes zero sense to port or remake 4 before any of the others. After Delta and the Master Collection, it makes sense for sure, but I'm not sure how likely it'll happen.
But people thinking it makes more sense for 4 to be remade over 3 for a company like Konami aren't actually thinking about figures or what makes sense in the longterm.
And I'm someone that desperately wants these games to be accessible to as many people as possible (and I am very excited at the prospect of the first 3 games and more being ported to modern platforms).
I for one care about complete experiences. I have been waiting to experience the complete series, for years. One piece of it doesnt move me
Might as well never play another video game then because they may make a sequel on a console you don't choose to buy.
Ruling other entries in a series out entirely because a single entry is difficult to find or play is still ridiculous (especially if the games widely available are the early entries)
These games were all made with the intention of the game being the final one in the series made. You can experience them as individual experiences (that's how they were made) and if you want to go after MGS4 because you've been sucked into the world and the story, there are ways to do it if you're in a rush for a "complete experience". It's the equivalent of refusing to play any of Kingdom Hearts because two of the games are on DS and the gameplay can't be ported correctly - even though the cutscenes and story are completely able to be found.
The only one truly making you not experience these games is you and your entitled sense of completionism. And I want MGS4 to live on through a remake. I just don't think MGS4 being stuck on PS3 is a reason to obstinately choose to not play any of the series if it's easily accessible.
If the remake sells well, I wanna see them remake Peace Walker strictly for Consoles & PC
Such an underrated gem in the series that doesn't get talked enough
It's depressing af to know that MGS4 is forever console locked on the PS3
Yeah you can play it on a PS3 Emulator but it's not 100% optimized unless you have a f***ing super computer

Peace Walker was remade for consoles & PC. It was called The Phantom Pain
Why forever?
mgs4 was especially made for the ps3, making it hard to port on other consoles

MGS4 was an early title for PS3 and its design/programming was hard-coded with the PS3's Frankenstein schematics. Makes it where emulation of it is difficult and porting it is near-impossible.
TPP is just Peace Walker but more thoroughly explored. Both are classics though.

I hated Peace Walker
Never played it on console though, only on PSP
Is it better on console/HD collection?

Honestly, not really. The HD Version just lets it play at 60fps. If you don't like the core gameplay loop of PW, you won't like the HD/console version.
And yeah, Portable Ops (honestly) is really underrated. Basically the only mainline games not directed/written by Kojima, but the story is still very good and the gameplay (to me) is a bit more interesting. All the interesting ideas PW introduced get fleshed out in TPP and perfected there.
Honestly really excited at the prospect of Portable Ops getting a remaster for the first time ever.

Even the online in Portable Ops was fun. I remember playing that for hours into the night while in bed

Never going to play Half-Life, Half-Life 2, or either of the Portal games because I don't have a VR headset to play Half-Life Alyx

different. MGS4 is 20% of the main series games for this entire series. Its an integral part of the entire narrative
if there is NO hope that I can ever play it without getting a ps3, I become much less interested, idk.
playing 2/3 would just make me more pissed that I wont be able to play 4, probably

1- best all around game, checks every box
2 - best political narrative & themes
3 - Most entertaining (literally made like a blockbuster movie)
4 - The fan service masterclass
5 - Best gameplay

Dude, if you're countering my example, HL: Alyx is more than 20% of the story. There's only 3 Half-Life games period lmfao
"probably" - bro how do you know if you haven't touched any of the games? People didn't even know there'd be a MGS4 when they finished MGS3
