There should be a baseline standard of living if you live in a developed country. There’s always gonna be people who don’t have jobs at a given time, those people shouldn’t starve. The majority of people don’t have good enough health insurance that they wouldn’t have to go into debt if they got hit by a car or got cancer through no fault of their own. You can’t invoke personal responsibility if there’s people getting screwed over through no fault of their own. Not everyone who needs help is someone who is lazy and doesn’t want to work. And it can happen to you one day.
