Nah Prime has always been a sub-story taking place between Metroid I and II lol also Ridley isn't a secret boss he's the legitimate final boss of Samus Returns 3D. The metal plating he has on him is his final reconstruction kinda armor. Remember in Metroid I, albeit it an NES game and they had limitation on what they could do, Ridley was blown up.

In the Prime trilogy, Ridley comes back but he's cybernetically enhanced and he's known as Meta Ridley. Throughout the Prime trilogy he keeps getting beaten and he gets more enhancements until he is eventually corrupted by the Phazon energy (Omega Ridley). Despite being corrupted, it gave him the ability of regeneration. So the Ridley that's the final boss in Samus Returns 3D is pretty much Ridley in his final stage of his regeneration and the remaining in-organic metal plating he has are there until he finishes his regeneration for Super Metroid.

It's definitely a massive mess of a timeline but it seems like Nintendo has been doing what they can to retcon some things in order for it to make some sense lmao

I said Ridley is a secret boss because you have to meet certain conditions for him to appear before you get into your ship. If you don't meet those conditions he doesn't appear. You get the basic normal ending that goes into Super Metroid if you don't fight cyborg Ridley in 3DS. You get the secret bonus ending if you fight cyborg Ridley.

Oh yeah I know I know what happened to Ridley. It's just that it's funny because there's no super Metroid remake so Ridley doesn't have the cyborg parts in the next game lol, but it's dope how they made 3D returns consistent.

Yep, Nintendo is reconning s*** lol. Nintendo originally said it was apart of the main timeline. They wanted to call it a sub-story, but decided against it so to not muddy up the story. They now have reverted back to that those games are its own timeline, that's not apart of the main timeline and is just its own timeline that just fits into the main timeline now. Just so it doesn't confuse new players. It's some weird Zelda s*** lol It use to be on the website and in old Nintendo books as one timeline. Now Nintendo removed the prime games and Other M from timelines and have them separate.

can’t buy this full price knowing it’s a 6 hour game despite my love for 2D metroid

It's really only six hours of you just rush through the game and don't get all the upgrades or explore. I got lost and it took me longer to beat it. Probably run through it again. The game is fun.

I can tell I’m gonna love this game tho. Mechanics are great and it’s got that lonely atmosphere that I like about Metroid games.

Bruh this the first time in a decade i had to open up a walkthrough to figure out where the morph ball was :clapdead:

I like how the cut scenes are implemented. Been really playing now and this really feels like a Metroid game through and through.

I'm still pretty early too but it's gameplay is nice and my first real boss was a nice little encounter. Good mechanics and the cut scenes are also smartly implemented to show you how to fight a boss,

Don't worry. I was lost trying to find the grapple beam for like two days, only for it to be in the first area tucked up in the corner. This game does not hold your hand and I love it. Like Zero Mission, Fusion, Samus returns 3D told you where the next upgrade was at. This game take it back to Super Metroid where they want you to explore. The only thing they keep is the mission log.

I’m not against walkthroughs but it wouldn’t feel right using them for this game.

Just gonna enjoy being lost until I figure out what to do
