yea this game is kinda in a tough spot given that its been so long since prime 3

theres a huge gap / generation of people that have probably never played a prime game (some evident itt) and if they did and if the game is like okay at best they'll be wondering why it took so long just to come out like this. the npc s*** certainly does no favors either especially when they revealed it so late lmao

I think its getting an 88, same as dread. That game also didnt reinvent the series but it wasnt that much of an issue with critics.
The art direction, ost, sound design, graphics, level design in beyond all seem top notch, top of the industry level and i think the prime formula hasnt gotten stale yet for critics, if anything the most positive aspect of all the previews was the classic prime gameplay hook, we've only had 3 games in this niche until MP4 after all.
Its not reaching the 90s tho no matter how good it is

Also i played the usual tutorial demo and i have to say the game feel is so premium, the mouse aiming is honestly pretty f***ing great, i expected the button mapping in this mode to be a lot worse (although its far from perfect). There's a f***ton to scan, the transition from and to morph ball is smoother, and the boss was one of the best first bosses in recent Nintendo games, great fight.

You bring up a relevant point

I first played Metroid Prime back when I was a pre-teen and I wasn’t used to a somewhat gritty/heavy atmosphere in my games (and I basically skipped all of the reading you had to do lol), so it didn’t completely engross me at first.

Now today I’m having a hard time imagining this young generation of gamers who grew up on Fortnite and Roblox getting into Metroid, which obviously doesn’t provide a similar kind of stimulation as those games.
This series will forever be niche

Roblox came out in 2006 so adults today grew up playing it too

Also when I was a preteen I loved gritty atmosphere, I think everyone is different I guess. I think this series a good chance of surpassing niche, especially with Beyond. Metroidvanias surging in popularity is a big part of that but also I think kids have varied tastes, I know kids that don’t f*** with Fortnite

The fact the game hasn't leaked out and we can all get to experience it in real time is something else in this day and age!
My dream is that we get to experience Viewros in a different time period where the desert is filled with water and the biomes look different. I have a weird gut feeling that it might happen..

I was hype af when they dropped the prime remaster but these trailers got me feeling like they fumbled the bag

I am waiting for the day 1 reviews but will probably cop. Haven't played any Prime game tho, only Super Metroid, Fusion and Dread

Honestly I feel like this is one of the most difficult games in recent memory to predict the end result.

i think it's gonna be lower than everyone's thinking. but i'd love to be wrong

I imagine the reviews will be slightly mixed but positive. 8 years is a long wait. I'm weary of the NPC. I hate the handholding. But also one of the appeals of Metroid is it's just you vs. the world, isolated in an atmospheric unknown.

Still wish they would've remastered the whole trilogy.

Still got DK to look forward to, but damn, Switch 1 dropped with BOTW and Odyssey.
