I remember checking my email for some reason and saw Yahoo News right as the headline came in. I immediately went up stairs to tell my mom and this Spanish comedy show she was watching began to announce it too as I walked in. We were both like

fever dream because I was sick and 8 but I remember waking up from a nap and seeing it on the tv. my mom stayed on the phone with her sisters for hours. I remember we kept the channel on MTV out front and it was deadass playing MJ movies that whole day.

But from my 8 year old brain perspective who barely knew MJ and was sick it felt crazy, like MJ had taken over the entire television/news network for a day
