Very very interesting + good questions being asked
I wasn’t going to see it but I just read there’s a scene where th CGI pet monkey looks at the thriller poster and then back at Michael like “that’s you!!”

He's in Hayvenhurst playing with a stack off Off The Wall records he was signing and Michael says "That's me, that's my new album!"
Each passing day it becomes more and more obvious why organisations like Rolling Stone and Variety for example have 30+ articles combined about MJ since release

I’m wanting that full on Steve Jobs esque Thriller biopic more and more every day tbh, make that s*** a buddy biopic between Michael and Quincy
Use the same cast from Michael too f*** it
This movie was so f***ing disappointing
Music scenes were cool, literally everything else felt, for lack of a better word, empty (aside from Colman Domingo)

lost opportunity to call the sequel JACKSON
I don't really get the allure of the title Jackson honestly

i think i like it a lot more than michael 2 but obv theyre probably still considering options
Saw it again for the 3rd time, the music sequences hit like crazy but it’s almost too basic at points.
The rest of the family barring Joe are basically stand in, the only way you know who people are from what they are wearing & even then, there’s SO much left out.
From the Wiz to Mike’s relationship with his brothers to Diana Ross to him being raised as a Jehovah’s Witness to his creative process - there’s way too little & could’ve been way longer.
I repeat again, WE NEED THE DIRECTOR’S CUT!!!

Michael 2 would be even worse

I'm going again tonight for my 4th showing and agree.
It's such a shame Diana Ross pulled out. I think that was a large part in what the film was going to be.
To even get a cohesive story after everything that happened is impressive honestly.
Hoping to generate more interest in the second film they do release an extended cut.
Imagine they would put in everything that happened in his life. The movie would be 10 hours long lmao

I would go in IMAX if you can. It's not the deepest of dives and there are naturally things missed out but it's an experience and does well to humanise MJ

Michael: Part 2 is the way
I don't think people truly acknowledge just how good Jaafar's performance is here. He's getting credit but not enough.. I've known and studied MJ for such a long time.. and he just nails it. It's just insanity
