Shout out Flanagan man
I can’t stand this show
It has no sympathy for the characters, and in addition to being unlikeable, they’re also uninteresting
It’s not effective satire
It’s not effective horror
And it’s repetitive af
Each episode, you know what’s gonna happen, you know who it’s gonna happen to..
There’s no tension in that
Yeah I just started it and don’t think I’ll last past the 1st ep
The characters are written in the worst way possible

I’d say go ahead and stop then
It’s on that vibe the whole way
There’s something cool in episode 2, and then just a downhill trudge from there

Do you think there's a disconnect between the critics and the general audience with this show? I'm kinda curious, and do wanna check it out after Hill House, which I've often heard is the best of the bunch

I’m not really sure what the word around town is
I just assumed that both critics and audiences were into it
Is that not the case?
If you’re curious, I’d say to check it out
I think I’m in the minority

Is it cause they feel like American Horror Story characters? I enjoyed this show but it’s ranked 3rd in my Flanagan rankings ‘cause this show was giving me AHS vibes at times

I just found the humor/dialogue to predictable
Even though I loved Midnight Mass, this might be my favourite Flanagan show since Hill House. I'm only on episode 5 tho
Characters are kinda two-dimensional "rich people bad", but I think that's the point? Kinda like a horror version of Succession.

I told my friend the same thing, it reminds me of a haunted Succession
Netflix done did it again another mid ass series whole show felt like a high school student project

What? Lol
I hate this show, and in no way does it feel like a high school student project
dude prolly the hardest working guy in horror. hard to deny his quality too
we will be watching as always
also is this potentially the haunting of season 3? similar to the second installment (basing the show on multiple works by the author) plus it's seemingly set in a house
Midnight Mass was the first project I ever checked out from his guy and it was so overwritten and tedious. By the final episodes I genuinely thought he was f***ing with the audience because no way he seriously wrote that dogshit without intending it to be a joke. That Kumbaya ending + the monologue about cosmos and whatever the f***, I was like....somebody kill me. I actually really dug the first four episodes though
😭😭
I don't even remember how it ended

Na you wilding. This was perfect. Binged it and didn't even look at my phone once

I kept on thinking of this post while reading. Here's something you forgot to take

After finishing the show I’m inclined to agree. I had no emotional connection to the story or any of its characters. The central mystery is easy to figure out, which renders each episode repetitive and uninteresting without real stakes. This also has nothing of note to say about the opioid epidemic, which the show is incredibly self serious about commenting on.
