@RoHoe tried to make this thread on KTT and it failed because the people weren’t ready. It’s time to try again.

There is a stigma around mental health and there are a lot of hypocrites who promote mental health and will hate Kanye for anything he says.

Kanye has bipolar disorder. His haters hate him for being outspoken during his manic episodes and don’t care if he gets help or not and have no care of the origin of his statements. His enablers follow anything he does and won’t acknowledge if he is suffering from a manic episode. They will literally live and breathe every word this man says.

We need to be better as Kanye fans and rather than supporting Presidental bids, we need to be the leaders on de-stigmatizing mental health. We need to acknowledge when he is having a manic episode and tell people that rather than fighting them and arguing he would be a good presidential candidate.

This can be Kanye’s most important legacy. He doesn’t need to be the President to save this country; he doesn’t need to bring everyone to Jesus. He can help us remove the stigma from mental health issues and lead us into a more caring society as a leader who has experienced these issues worse than anyone.

We need to talk about these problems and acknowledge that we aren’t unlike anyone else. Everyone suffers from mental health issues at some point in their life.

I will start. I have ADHD which was undiagnosed until I was 20. This led to me having severe depression and anxiety from age 16-20. I am 25 now and I still face these problems every once in a while, but I can control them after acknowledging that I had a problem and facing the problem. I attribute a lot to Kanye and Cudi, but also my own awareness of ADHD helped me realize my own mental health problems and brought me back to a healthy place.

Feel free to share any thoughts. Mods, I please ask you do not lock this thread. This is a positive vibes thread and we are here to discuss and de-stigmatize mental health issues.

Agree. This is a mental health issue and as someone who knows people who have bipolar disorder in real life, this is sad. People need to focus on that then whatever s*** he’s saying right now.

couldn't have put it better myself.

people like spooky legitimately care about kanye.

f*** the new music, the POTUS bids - let's get this man healthy.

  • Agreed man. This is scary. As someone with a close friend dealing with a similar situation - the enablers and the haters too - this is bad. Kanye needs help.

Diagnosed Type 2 Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder here. Seeing Kanye go through his struggles and seeing the response to his behavior blasted in public with harsh criticisms, trolls, and straight up vile comments makes me fear that that is what people think of me when I go through an episode and put myself on blast publicly (which I have done... far too many times..)

I can't even imagine being in his position, and to add in the racial context of Kanye's career, recent political endeavours, and racial politics in America and how much of the hatred for him is racially fueled, I can't even f***ing imagine. It's so sad to see what this man is going through, and I understand how someone uneducated and unknowing can look at it and point a finger at him, but it's far more complex than that.

peace and love to everyone and @op

mental health is not a joke. the only issue I have is social media. I can't stress enough how much of a cesspool it is and everything is turned into a joke on there. sure, there might be some serious conversations on there, but it's upsetting when one of the most popular and recognized celebs gets clowned, insulted and mocked instead of caring. and these be the same ppl who are 'mental health advocates'. hypocrites need to get lost.

Fantastic read, @SpookyGhost, hope you're well.

I made the decision in my life a year ago to do a job that I love (teaching high school math) rather than a job for money and I am the happiest I have ever been. Once I realized I am spending 40 hours a week, every week for the next 35 years working, I’d better be doing the thing I love the most. I love math and teaching found me. There is no better feeling in the world than having a student tell you that you have made a significant positive impact on their life. I was scared I made the wrong decision when I initially turned down a $90k job to teach, and a year later I know I will never question that decision I made ever again. I am the happiest I have ever been. Life is beautiful.

Likewise, I hope you are doing well my brother

I'm on Fluoxetine (generic Prozac). But I don't think it's possible to have this discussion without also acknowledging that we have no idea what his family dynamic is like behind the scenes.

It's not safe to just write off what he's been tweeting as extreme paranoia. It's been known that the Kardashian's use him. I believe he loves Kim but that relationship definitely came at a cost. He doesn't want his kids w****d out on reality TV and if they don't listen and don't answer his calls, he's going to air it out somehow.
