The amount like likes the first reply got is disturbing. And tell your mom stop opening your mail it’s weird.

I don't care that your nails are painted

    I don't care what society does & doesn't like

    I don't care what's considered normal

I think your half-painted nails look bad & your desire to have them look like that is stupid. If you're gonna paint them, go all in and f***ing paint them.

But like I said, live your life. My opinion shouldn't (and doesn't) matter 💅🏾

At the very least have it be a perfect circle on the nails instead of just a blob. Now that’d be hard

OP one thing that I’ve learned in this life is that the older generation posses a lot of views that are out of touch even if they are the ones we love & our family.
Don’t be afraid to be yourself to the fullest. It is truly the greatest gift to yourself regardless of what anyone says about it. Much love !!!

Dude this is terrible advice. There is no "standing up" to your mom, its just making things worse. And that last bit... yikes, are you trying to get this kid kicked out of his house? Come on man.

Legally she cannot kick him out. I understand having a small amount of fear/respect towards your parents but your f***ing mom? She'll respect him more.

Legally she cannot but it could lead to 2 years of discomfort or resentment towards one another (which would obviously be more harmful in the long run) and her potentially kicking him out as soon as she turns 18. Even everyone in this thread telling him to "just move out bro" say it like its just that easy. He's SIXTEEN. A CHILD in JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL. He likely doesn't have the income to move out, let alone a safe home to move into, or the means to buy himself food, phone service, and transportation.

His mother might have a certain standard she wants him to conduct himself to, and it will not kill him to adhere to them for a few more years until he has the means to move out. The incessant pitying and "NO SHE NEEDS TO ACCEPT YOU!" back-patting is NOT helping matters, its only reconfirming this unrealistic universal standard that a parent will always accept whatever their childs' unique or otherwise unusual behaviors which is simply not the case.

The best thing for him to do is not make a big deal out of it and comply with her until he is financially able to support himself and his own lifestyle. NOT "standing up to her" with optimism that she will "respect him more", that's about as naïve as it gets.

I think it’s the novelty of it being unconventional and unique, regardless of how aesthetically pleasing it looks.

Idgaf if one of my sons would be gay or bi or tran, I’d love & accept him. The only thing I wouldn’t tolerate is him being a coward in accepting himself.

I’d want him to be a Harvey Spector badass about it.
