Also just to break down the timelines.

“Monster” was in the sundance film festival in Jan. 2018. Usually the deadline to submit is August from the previous year.

So that means they had to turn in the film by August 2017 by the latest. But you can submit as early as March. So they may have already had the film submitted by the time the allegations happened or just didn’t see it important enough to risk going back and editing and possibly missing the deadline.
