Ehh....it's just different rules adjusted for the modern age.

I get the point but there's always been changes like that in the music industry for decades.

Monoculture is dead. We're not going to get singles with In Da Club, Gangnam Style, Hotline Bling, Lose Yourself or Gold Digger level impact anytime soon because of how different media consumption is.

But Hotline Bling isn’t actually terrible like 80% of his other #1’s. I’d say his first organic real solo #1 is OneDance. I’ve never even heard some of them, like what is “What’s Next” and I still haven’t spun the new SZA track, I have zero urge to go out my way to run it. I thought the whole point of #1’s is that they come to you organically, like they’re inescapable..

Some of the best songs ever made.

    passionfruits long intro f***ed it

when howgh came out in 2013 it was pre streaming, lots of radio stations are racist. it went top 5 and sftb went top 10 which were both high for a "rapper" at the time

hotline peaked at #2 cuz the mv dropped on apple music first and apple music mv streams didn't count

  • People and their arbitrary and subjective opinions on what makes a good and bad songs lol.

Michael Jackson’s #1s are all solo with no features ; Drake has a while to go before that, unlikely to even happen at this point

  • Sep 25, 2023

All of these songs were genuinely huge lol

  • Sep 25, 2023

Other than What's Next and Wait For U I vividly remember every one of these songs popping off outside lol

Drake just running things and everyone besides Taylor Swift is commercially beneath him
