Drake is the new Michael Jackson confirmed

  • Sep 25, 2023

Crazy, drake didn’t even have one until 2016 right?

Michael Jackson’s #1s are all solo with no features ; Drake has a while to go before that, unlikely to even happen at this point

    That’s a good point

7 of those 13 are also single handedly written by MJ too.

Toosie Slide, I’m My Feelings etc being compared to Billie Jean is crazy! Lol

More than half of this list sucks

  • Slime You Out going #1 when only like 14 people know it exists is crazy

  • Sep 25, 2023

Just because radio is different and there isn’t as many pure sales through CD, iTunes store, etc, forcing you to purchase to listen, doesn’t mean the stream numbers don’t equate to that. We’re in a different era. Comparing Billie Jean to In My Feelings musically might not make sense with the quality of music being different, but the numbers are there

Ehh....it's just different rules adjusted for the modern age.

I get the point but there's always been changes like that in the music industry for decades.

Monoculture is dead. We're not going to get singles with In Da Club, Gangnam Style, Hotline Bling, Lose Yourself or Gold Digger level impact anytime soon because of how different media consumption is.

i think hotline bling, old town road and others were that size of song they were huge

I can’t lie, after looking at this list I realized Drake’s biggest hits are usually among my least favorites on his albums

But Hotline Bling isn’t actually terrible like 80% of his other #1’s. I’d say his first organic real solo #1 is OneDance. I’ve never even heard some of them, like what is “What’s Next” and I still haven’t spun the new SZA track, I have zero urge to go out my way to run it. I thought the whole point of #1’s is that they come to you organically, like they’re inescapable..

  • Sep 25, 2023

they'd need to make sublists within the streaming era since they keep changing the rules

  • Sep 25, 2023

Interesting how bigger the top half songs are
