I would agree with the first part, my claim isn’t that they are skilled rappers really, part of the point is that they aren’t perceived as traditionally skilled rappers. And I’d say a good amount of newer artists including most in the OP show explicit vulnerability and talk about real s*** in their lives, not just some vague type of vulnerability.

Well, they just not taken seriously, because their skills alone is not anything to go home about.

Stop calling grown men babes and chill with the condescending tone, it’s giving elitist. you clearly didn’t catch I was calling you white so check your hiphop white pain and this s***ty substance thread at the door

    salute lmao

I’m not white babes and if it threatens ur masculinity that’s not my problem I’ll condescend you all I want once ur saying homophobic s***, erasing my identity as a Palestinian, and wishing STDs upon me over some music discussion. I’d consider that way worse.

  • Aug 14, 2025

Add on: New gen but they still sound like the artists of their time.

There’s a core separation of new artists that obviously blew up in their late 20s and early 30s that wear their influences and the teeny “rAgE” kids that wear their influences.

$ilkmoney, veeze, and kenny mason are “new gen” rappers but their sound is more aligned with millennials than young rappers.

P.s. And you look goofy automatically disregarding black people’s reasonable dismissal of white hip hop (yeat is white passing dawg) artists but you have questionable takes on race/social issues in the past so that is par for the course.

If you don’t take earnest art seriously because they don’t have good enough technical rap skill for it that’s you though I think your missing out on a lot of great music and touching real art imo the thread didn’t include people like MIKE cuz of the first sentence man that’s the whole point this don’t even apply for someone like veeze tbh. I could tell you newer artists that fit that criteria too if you’d like

2093, Nino paid, lil Tony, untiljapan, fakemink, Veeze, 454, jim legxacy all make incredibly touching art I wouldn’t call it surface level vulnerability. All music is art I don’t say art in terms of a high art low art sense. That s*** can really help someone go through something or relate to man

Oh yeah like Che or osamason isn’t overall a vulnerable or lyrically substantive artist don’t get me wrong not at ALL, the point of including those is to say that even at that level of extreme, they have vulnerable moments of real pain

You trying to reinforce these artists, but they're really not that touching.

They can get heartfelt on a track...ok.

Can they at least tell a story through an album? Oh wait....they can't.

Because they selling surface level vulnerability.
