i think scorpion was bigger imo. Both huge though. Both Top 5 biggest rap of 2010s.

They are I’m just thinking which one is bigger for the culture. Like I’m almost sure Scorpion had the biggest hits, but Views was such a big album in like conversation I remember so many ppl were talking about it

Crazy how big TES and 2001 are. It’s the international fans

Do you guys think Views or Scorpion is bigger?

views felt bigger as a whole but scorpion era felt like it lasted way longer cause after only like 6 months post views drake was pushing more life

scorpion also had more pop culture presence with the singles and music videos and nonstop assault of popular features

worth noting too 2016 was like the last year of the old industry before the streaming era really began

  • Jul 4, 2023

The streaming numbers for the individual songs of ? are insane

  • Jul 4, 2023

i’m curious what the list would look like you if you calculated the average number of streams per song rather than total streams and having one mega hit holding up the whole album

a billion streams on spotify really doesn’t mean that much nowadays

    Theory

I think Juice, Pop Smoke, and X were all poised to be huge stars at the time of their deaths. Their deaths did make their existing music bigger than it was, but I think they were bound to get bigger regardless of their death. Maybe not as big as they ended up becoming, but they would have been major players in the game.

As far as who else has died - Takeoff, PNB Rock, Mac Miller, Lil Keed, King Von, Nipsey Hussle, Fredo Santana, Lil Peep, the list goes on.

I don’t disagree with you that the people whose music focuses so much on death like X and Juice will see a bigger boom from their music btw. Just don’t think that their potential should be discounted because they were clearly on their way up prior to dying

Yeah this nigga doesn't realize all them mfs died at 21 or younger . Like they barely got their foots in the door. All 3 of them were only popping for about a year or 2 before they died. Only a year or 2 in the mainstream and years later, they are still discussed and streamed heavily. This just shows the latent potential they had

Always thought the Views strategy with only doing the dumbass Child's Play video and the short film was not smart...

that apple music deal really had him locked in for a solid like 3 years, hotline bling probably would’ve stayed exclusive way longer if it didn’t immediately go viral

one dance having the run it did without even having the audio on youtube was insane
