Characters that are way too progressive for their time just because they’re the hero

1400s king talking about "my daughter is allowed to marry the one she loves" ion think that’s how it went down pal

the sidekick comes in to kill the villain at the most crucial moment while the hero down and injured or something, it’s in every 2nd film/show

Forced progressivism like the rando black elf in Power of the Ring or the badly inserted LGBT plots in every Netflix show.

The big catastrophe being evaded at the very last moment.

this is the result of twitter continuing to ask for representation from big corporations.

people just take the scraps and support trauma p***. Black and LGBTQ cinema were at their peak and felt more authentic when the indie film scene was still booming.

The cutaway during important scenes where you don’t see the outcome of something and it’s revealed as a surprise later when it’s f***ing obvious you can fill in the gap pretty easily if you know the villain’s/hero’s motivation

    cough Alien Covenant

Nah the fear of wokeism is whats annoying.

The more people cry about black characters the more I hope they do them

Queerbaiting and tokenism is another story tho

Agreed that the crying about that s*** is the worst

But when “wokeness” is done poorly it ends up almost playing into their hand and make it seem like they aren’t as stupid as they are

The She Hulk dialogue about feminism for example is truly horrendous and do make it feel like you’re watching something that is pure agenda and can be insulting

Sure but at the same time like with She Hulk maybe a certain group of people should just not feel that entitled to be included into everything

I mean it sure is hilarious how the group that cries the most about wokeism and forced agenda is exactly the one that wants to be included into everything

Maybe it just aint meant for them

Still I havent watched She Hulk and wouldnt be suprised if that s*** was trash. Im just speaking generally

I see it like that: the world is already full off movies spreading the „masculinity agenda“ with a strong ass male main character doing badass s***, saving his family etc.

Whats wrong with having one movie spreading the opposite

Both arent really artistic yet people curiously are only upset about the one

Its why Im saying the people rn are so fragile they would call out Aliens or Terminator for being wokeism if it was released now

Yeah I definitely feel you there

I mean in the case of huge stuff like she hulk tbf the art/product is trying to include that demographic too and I can see how those people like might feel like the being preached too is too much

Maybe this is just my age but it feels like tv along with our society has gotten a lot more political in recent years and maybe that’s good but hearing Twitter talking points repackaged as dialogue can definitely be rough. I don’t really care about the babies who cry about diverse casting having some kind of safe space or series just for them but in all fairness if I’m trying to empathize, yes there’s been plenty of movies in the past that cater to them but if I was super right wing or whatever and it defined who I was I’m not sure what I would watch as far as modern stuff. Because even though I agree with most of “woke-ism” it can still bug me being overdone in every show now and not feeling authentic so I can’t imagine if I disagreed strongly

I’m just saying s*** and definitely playing devils advocate but the whole culture war thing sucks and is exhausting

Nah it’s like casting a white as s*** native american. The elves in Tolkien’s works stem purely from nordic mythology. That character is 100% a token.

I personally don’t even care about these things unless they’re visibly forced.
