I too used to make these type of edgy comparisons between unlike new and old phenomena to say they’re equivalents, partially to feel smarter and partially to take established institutions down a peg. Then I grew up. It takes a lot of surface level thinking to not only make this equivalence between Mr Beast and Walt Disney, but a complete misunderstanding of what Disney even was. And I get it, being respectful to the established ‘masters’ of culture is boring, but…YouTube donation videos are not animated cinema. Idc for the “same s*** different century” thinking. It’s not animated film, it’s that simple

Mr Beast doesn’t have a Disneyland. That’s probably the biggest one. Mr Beast doesn’t have a Snow White and the Seven Dwarves - the highest grossing film ever at the time besides Gone with the Wind and the first theatrical animated full length film. He doesn’t have that. Or Jungle Book, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Mickey Mouse (as you mentioned foolishly lol that’s Mickey Mouse THE Mickey Mouse only Jesus and MJ and Superman/Batman/Spider-Man are competing with that in recognizability)

There is no cultural equivalence. Walt Disney is Walt Disney and Mr Beast is Mr Beast. Case closed
