I had the same feeling. I was not a big fan of this on release and I was confused why he was pushing it with the SNL performance.

Man I mighta got into a bunch of similar arguments/conversations he was describing with his dad but with my dad, that s*** hit differently instantly. Talking about the song with my girl (it’s her favorite on the album) and how I could relate to his exact sentiments in my life brought the entire song full circle and it’s now one of my favorites

this what separates kendrick from other artist for me. he can make his personal problems and life so relatable.
