Eh I wouldn’t read too much into that. The chick that’s co-showrunner with Lindelof was just a staff writer on BBT for the later seasons, she wasn’t heavily involved in the show’s creative process.

Writers don’t get a lot of creative freedom especially ones on network tv, they’re expected to follow the style and formula that’s laid out for them by the showrunner. That’s just how it’s always been
