Obvi I’d much prefer HBO, but Pokerface has been solid so we’ll see Peacock isn’t NBC

HBO is just a name bro and they are going through massive restructuring

As long as Casey Bloys is leading it, it’s a lifestyle, and I’m all about it

    Welcome back, Lindelof.

    Yes.

I was definitely able to follow the major plot points, but there were also minor things throughout where I just accepted that I didn’t understand what they meant/were talking about.

Alright so I finally finished this. It was both an extremely Lindelof show, and also an extremely different show from anything he’s done up until this point.

    Big Lindelof things about it:

    • very clearly defined broad themes about our society and what it means to be human
    • good character development
    • cool/unique world creation visually

Things that were very different from his past work:

    • EXTREMELY light hearted — to the point where you could even say this is a full on Comedy rather than Drama (I’m assuming this is likely due to Tara Hernandez being co show runner)
    • the plot was very “mission” based. There was a very clear goal that was constantly propelling the plot with very few detours compared to past things he’s done
    • some of the themes were…dare I say, some of the most “generic” he’s ever done? Just like basic mommy/daddy issues stuff? And the love interest stuff? Maybe it was deeper than what I took from it but just felt super stale. Again, maybe has something to do with working with someone from Big Bang Theory? Lol

    And just overall:

    • the acting was alright for the most part, I think Betty Gilpin did a good job leading (but she would have stood out more if the generic parts of her character I mentioned above weren’t included). Chris Diamantopoulos and Andy McQueen were the biggest standouts by far
    • it was a fun watch but no where near close to Lindelofs best work (Watchmen and Leftovers were both absolute GOAT level to me, and I loved Lost). I would be disappointed if I heard there was a 2nd season because I would see it as a waste of his time
