Lol
https://twitter.com/MeidasTouch/status/2008561622365991143Should have a dance off to settle this once and for all
You’re drinking the kool aid here falling for the short term positive spin all U.S. actions and adventures come with. Its a facade.
The refusal to remove the actual regime doesn't send strong messaging. Also risks Venezuelan government simply bidding their time as they follow some instructions, but still consolidate long term power. Will the admin even care about this when the next war/country, distraction or election hits? None of this is new for LatAm.
Also these aren't companies interests, they're just Trump's interests, who was persuaded to do all of this on the promise of a future of cashing in on oil. Trump already has to strong arm companies to invest because no one in their right mind wants to spend tens or hundreds of billions building up Venezuela's oil sector just for it to be renationalized again later on, or not even benefit from the oil.
these aren't the interest of big corporations? lol alright. Calling him smart was a stretch but it's kinda obvious that there was some of strategy here even if it's incredibly flawed. Trump is seeing how much he can get away with, and the Democrats are actually in full support of it. This was a warning to all of Latin America and he knows just how propagandized we are as Americans. If we don't push back on this this will be seen as a huge win.
Also, his administration was able to successfully force Evo Morales and his government out in 2019 with no pushback from us. They already have a strong hold on Latin America right now so we can't pretend like he hasn't been effective.

No one is rushing to go in there because its an incredibly risky investment. They're not going to see any returns if they try to expend all these sources reviving the same regime's industry...just for them to re-nationalize per usual in a few years. $100B for that?
Just because Trump keeps saying it doesn't mean the oil companies are. He's stuck on it because that's the dream Rubio sold to him.
Subsidies will probably come, which just makes this a loss for Americans as the companies still probably won't gain long-term foothold

https://twitter.com/vplus/status/2008303674750107988He had talks with oil companies before making his decision to move in though. I think they also made the idiotic assumption that Venezuela would quickly fall into chaos after kidnapping Maduro. Look at how confident other big CEOS like Bezos and Musk were after the kidnapping.

Looks like they're still talking. I don't industry is naturally convinced about this, and prices are expected to stay low this year.
They'll prob have to end up paying the companies to pay for this.
Welp
https://twitter.com/ft/status/2008542848753316000do you think its bad that cuba gets oil

https://twitter.com/MeidasTouch/status/2008561622365991143In an era of losers and redpill manosphere, I fear this is just gonna be looked at as Trump letting his nuts hang.

Yeah, everything screams that so horrible stuff is gonna happen soon.
I heard reporters, experts and people say “I can’t imagine that happening” but it is obvious happening
In an era of losers and redpill manosphere, I fear this is just gonna be looked at as Trump letting his nuts hang.
Watching people treat this as a rap beef, sports game, etc is horrible
