I grew up on Kanye’s music, so I’ll always have a soft spot for when artists have different eras.
Tyler and Kendrick are also artists who are great at creating a specific feel for their different eras, and I always the appreciate the extra work effort they put in to each of their eras
the mysterious thing is being done so much that there’s no more mystery
& 9/10 of mysterious s*** has no meaning, being mysterious should be conceptual not just aesthetic imo
Being mysterious doesn't work anymore because back in the day when Prince was hiding in a forest you couldn't see him walking around LA coming out of Dave's Hit Chicken on TMZ or posting cryptic emojis at 3AM. When he was gone he was gone and you had to wait, excitement built up because he was hard at work
And also there was less artists to take away your attention. When one of these opium clones or R&B niggas act "mysterious" you got 50 other artists that do the same thing to take their place. You got to be Prince level to be mysterious, like Frank is.
Kanye influenced (in Hip Hop & RnB realm)
But even he has worked himself into a nonsensical corner with it.
I feel u this s*** try hard
is this ironic
how is it try hard to change your pfp

How does anyone on opium try to be mysterious. They post on social media and drop every year. Wearing all black is mysterious now?
Talking about the actual opium roster not Carti
I partially agree. Music eras NOW are s*** but if you're saying all music eras the hell nah. It's fun af to go back in time and look through MJ or Madonna era's and see them grow. All the interviews, outfits, artwork, music videos, the whole rollout used to be a movie. That's half the fun in going through their discography and you're missing out if you don't get the full context
Now tho, completely ass cheeks. IG wipes are lame, retroactively using past eras as a crutch for nostalgia is wack (Taylor) none of the art matches or has any direction because it's all tremd of the week, tiktok campaigns with forced pandering singles is s***
The last true modern day "era" that felt like a movie was 2014-2016 Views From The 6 rollout. I was glued to Drake and OVO pages for the slightest hint at what was next. Every feature was a hit, every loosie was better than the next. That was monumental and no other artist has captured the magic since, Drake still felt organic back then
I think The Weeknd is still doing eras pretty well. I do agree that the Views build up was iconic and it was Drake at his absolute best. It’s unfortunate that the album did not reflect that at all.

It’s better than just posting an album like “here you go 🤷♂️” like make it feel important
imagine if you just an artist and thought the s*** just looked cool but everyone watching you like crazy and now they think an album is coming this week when really you aint got s*** didnt think it was that deep and changed it for yourself
I agree I hate rollout. No amount of teasing has ever got my more hyped for the music, just drop that s***.
Post drop promo is cool, pre drop is f***ing aggravating lol
ayoo Homeboy Ferrari when the album??
What you mean?
The internet said you changing your profile pic to your mom holding you as a baby means an album coming where it at
...Nigga i been in Jamaica for 3 months with my girl
Yeah they lowkey don't come across as a natural shift in art direction but gimmicky at times especially with fans being too aware, like the "x is in their x era!"
But overall not that big of a deal
is this ironic

Overthinking social media stuff is try hard. Just post whatever u feel like posting
