well it's billed a Madlib solo but Four Tet edited it. And I dunno, maybe your name's Patrick?
What
Idk man reading authors like Foucault, Bourdieu, Durkheim, Cioran... is already so painful sometimes in a silent environment idk how music distracting your thoughts even more is supposed to help (but hey if you're comfortable with it do you )
no obviously you have low ass IQ if you can't read complex critical theory and listen to Flockaveli at the same time
Fleet Foxes - Shore
Twin Peaks Soundtrack
Neil Young - Harvest Moon
I'm looking for music that you can just play on low volume while reading and completely enter the zone

I would go so far as to say it’s actually impossible to understand Discipline and Punish without simultaneously contemplating the lines “When my little brother died I said f*** school/I picked the burner up and I grabbed some marijuana/two years later, screaming out your honor”
Brian Enos ambient work
Eno work is good but I’ll do yall one better: Phillip Glass symphonies inspired by Eno and Bowie’s work on Low and Heroes
Listen to this every morning when I read for class
Eno Ambient 2
Can't even imagine reading and listening to music. You just end up not listening to the music and half reading the book in your hands
Nah
Ambient/background music like Jazz or Lofi/instrumental Hip Hop enhances the reading experience
With dead silence its too easy for me to get distracted

I'll read Foucault and in the same time tap into my superhero potential to listen to ATLien while singing 3K's verse on 13th Floor/Growing Old AND cook something for my girlfriend and if I REALLY wanted I could read a second book in the meantime. That's how high my IQ is

I don't know if it's like a boring long ass paper from uni that I'm not interested in to begin with yeah I'll throw some music and I'll fast forward the reading just picking up the good lines to get the gist of it.
If I'm reading something that I wanted to read nah I'll never throw music cause it doesn't make sense to me. You got a whole piece that was designed to take you places and you're going to say f*** it lemme f*** with the experience and throw in some music in the mix ? Nah it's like if I wanted to watch a movie and was like aight you know what this film really needs ? Don Toliver's last album in my ears
idk what the best background music to pair with Dostoevsky is but this works well for me
i've begun pairing different soundtracks and composers with the books i read. I find it an engaging experience when you find the perfect composition to pair with what you're reading.. it's a movie in your head made complete with the music.
The ambient studio albums by Eno. >>>>>
when I read one piece I always play either Madlib instrumentals or pharrell’s in my mind album (instrumental version) and it works wonderfully
