The entertainment industry as a whole. Thought that when I saw the taraji stuff. Obviously there’s race and gender involved there with that situation specifically but overall we have to face reality that art is inherently not necessary to our survival so the hundreds of millions of dollars/infrastructure that fueled the great media landscape of the 70’s-2000’s may have just dried up because of the direction the world has went + piracy

Niggas starving and people not getting paid enough for music or film is getting farther and farther down the list of important s***. I’m not in favor of it but maybe the way things were for the past 40 years was then…and this is now

The shows thing makes sense. They just book as wide as they can and if s*** doesn't fill out, whatever. They do as much as they can. Overbooking is better than under booking.

Blog era was a decade ago. Not sure I'd call a lot of that stuff journalism anyway. Is a Pitchfork review journalism? We do that s*** on Letterboxd for free

Physical media is trash. Literally trash. You're buying plastic and cardboard to stack on a dusty shelf

If physical media was trash, vinyls wouldnt be selling as well as they do now.

Feel however you wanna feel, physical media was/still is the only way that one could purchase and actually have somebody’s music.

The thing about streaming is that s*** in an instant could all be gone lol. Cant snoop dogg dissapear a CD

@browser This is also 1000% why all ur fav artists sold they masters to cash out early.

They probably were seeing the signs a crash/reset was coming.

People said this during covid. Stop the fear mongering. Truth is consumers are a lot more stingy with their money but trust and believe they're still dropping money. Look at the eras tour or beyonce tour. Look at barbie and Oppenheimer. Truth is if you got a s***ty product eventually it will catch up to you. Going "viral" doesn't mean s*** anymore

The major artists have consumed the paying fans of all lesser artists in all genres. People are spending huge amounts on 1-2 shows nowadays vs a bunch of smaller events.

Literally nothing in your post has anything to do with the music industry. Lol

The industry survived Napster and leaks then bounced back strong. It'll never fail.

they greenlited a bunch of shows in the past years because of streaming, but this model of streaming is not profitable like that. they just cancel everything that is not popular enough

“journalists losing their jobs” no one cares

get over physical media. the world changed.

I feel like they just knew that getting a lump sum for music, which generally doesn't bring much money on its own, is a better deal than uneven royalties over a period of years. always take the lump sum rule didnt come outta nowhere
