in reference tracks, its not an issue
in released form its an issue because it sounds like s***,opens up doors for more harmful uses that harm artists, its often used to copy the artists' likeness, and one of the properties of what makes the music an expression from the artist, it coming from their voice specifically in rap, is taken away. which is part of the artform. if you were talking about models deepfaking their face vs artists deepfaking their voice that would be more accurate

any other vid would a valid example, but a lot of thp5 music video praise is centered on its gimmick novelty use of deepfakes. the allusions to all those other figures could’ve been rendered with the ‘{human} creativity’ ure lamenting but they opted for this. conflating the artistry to how a music video compliments a song and the experience of listening to it in isolation are two different things.
also all the deflection itt about this not being considered ai feels disingenuous when so much of the controversy around the technology is its use for deepfake p*** or people using it to replace actors. sure language models / generative imagery are the hype rn but that stuff is just as much part of it. as u mentioned all of this is coming in waves. tryna cuss me dont change that

whether its praised for that aspect or not does not change what im saying. its being used as a TOOL to deliver a message in a broader piece of art, to just make an animation smoother so as to circumvent a painstaking process. deepfakes dont exactly require much individual human expression and creativity, its like if you can automate raytracing to a button you would and thats entirely different from the entire game being generated by an AI. Again yes those are ai too but thats not what people mean when they say AI theres no reason to be obtuse. the ethical reasons people have issue with deepfakes in p*** is completely detached from whether its ai or not, its an issue of consent.

That’s one of the most common themes I can think of in hip hop. Everyone loves you when you’re dead. I’m sure even he’d agree

Nvidia started investing into AI majorly in 2023 iirc
And AI was still very infant in 2021/2022 that had a very tough time with photos let alone video even at a major level which was still really "indie", and right before chatgpt invites and the image generator, if I'm not mistaken
Nvidia has been investing into ai for over a decade now. The 980 ti had cuda cores that could be used for deep learning. That dropped in 2015.

Nipsey wasn't this kinda huge figure in hip-hop until after he died. This shouldn't even be a controversial take. S***, Victory Lap didn't really get that much attention til after he died as well.
