I think it's because if you put out something bad now, you get a million needles hurled your way in real time, people engage more with negative than positive content

I genuinely think social media reaction is a big reason why Chance hasn't dropped an album in years, don't get me wrong, The Big Day was ASS, but that level of hate would drive anyone insane, someone creates a catchy enough soundbite, 'I love my wife', and that's all your work is, social media does not reward positive responses to art
