Remove In The Bible & N 2 Deep

    But KEEP Knife & Fountains

    Ya'll crazy

Well remember in my ideal CLB Knife Talks and Fountains Drake does way better on them and have more of a presence. I love that type of style from Drake on Knife Talks but Savage has way more presence to the point it feels like Drake is just a feature.

I also love the type of vibe with Fountains and the album could definitely use it but again feels like it's just has Drake as a feature on a Tems song. If he came harder and added more to the song and made it more interesting that should could be a major hit which the album desperately needs.

Durk and Giveon out did Drake on In The Bible and even if Drake had a better verse and more presence on it I would still not like this song to be on the album. I don't really like the theme to it. N 2 Deep is just another Drake and Future track and I never like those on his albums. Ain't nothing special to them ever would much rather them be on Future's project. Plus the first half so unnecessary.

Totally agree. I was so hyped to see Fair Trade on the album, then was massively disappointed after seeing Travis as a feature. This album was not cohesive at all. Total mess

this mf didn't like the Travis feature and decided to call the whole album "a total mess"

shut the f*** up and change avi

Cause the entire Travis feature on Fair Trade was nonsense. Drake came with some introspective bars, then you hear the beat switch and Travis’s bull s***. Why do you get so offended?

And that was only part of the reason. Album was a whole mess due to bloated trash fillers, weak features, no concise theme.

  • Agree for the most part, thank god most of those verses come at the end bc I skip all those feats or just run drake back. But besides the 21 track, I think the others sound like the many sides of drake and belong on the album, cudi and future parts I fw and rick Ross/Wayne I can’t be mad at, but the others I agree

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Most of the songs with features Drake adds nothing to them and they feel like him featuring on the other artists songs instead of the other way around which ironically is what he is known to do to other people so that's already hugely disappointing that he is letting that happen to him on his own album.

Every project post IYRTITL has a had creative choices that have missed the mark. There were a couple on Views and More Life but on Scorpion and CLB there are way too many.

Ways to fix CLB and turn it into a classic:

    • Papi's Home should have had one more verse or Nicki should have had a verse. Usually I wouldn't want Nicki on his album but a song about sonnin niggas? That's right up her alley!
    • Remove: Girls Want Girls, In The Bible, Way 2 Sexy and N 2 Deep and give them to the artist's on the song.
    • I would keep Knife Talk and Fountains, and IMY2 though but he has to have more verses/presence on those songs.
    • He should have 100% rapped on Yebba's Talk. Probably the biggest disappointed. Was so excited to hear him on a track from an artist so differently from who he usually works with and of course he doesn't say a word on it.
    • Take Hov off of Love All and add back the outro and extend the slide through part. Put Hov another song like No Friends In the Industry, Papi's Home, Knife Talk or entirely new song where they both just spazz on some lyrical s*** like they should have done.
F***ing Fans should have definitely had Party.
    • Champagne Poetry could have been Tuscan Leather level but he sounds so bored and lifeless on it. I wish he had the same level of energy on last couple bars going on through the whole song.
    • TSU intro should have been shorter or maybe the outro and should have been called Not Around. Didn't care for the beat switch either. I mean I wanted one but that one was very mediocre to me. He is usually the king of beat switches but the ones on this album have been boring and unnecessary.
    • THAT REMA RECORD SHOULD HAVE MADE IT!

Overall I wish he had more to say. I remember I time he said if the words he says don't make people feel things like they used he'd retire. They haven't for years and he still going because people nowadays don't care about that anymore and only care if something slaps or not.

It's just another messy Drake album. Like ya said no cohesion, concept, purpose or anything just same old same old and if he was going to do that at least make the songs high quality. But nah we get s*** like Girls Want Girls and Way 2 Sexy. All this album proved was that he is as corny as everyone says he is and he puts mid like everyone says he does. Was hoping he'd prove everyone wrong but he just proved them right.

    BRO..

Bro you made your points and there’s like 30 threads like this.. you don’t like it.. we do.. nothing really to constructively discuss.. it’s a music forum not the continental congress 😂

Ain’t seen one thread that specifically brought up the points I brought up.

There’s plenty to constructively discuss. We all have different opinions, and those or are competent enough to the contribute to the conversation should. And those who aren’t, like yourself, shouldn’t (and apparently) can’t.

N 2 Deep is amazing what tf kinda music y’all like?

It is. I really like it. I’m just saying it doesn’t fit on the album/didn’t need the second half beat switch imo.

You’re argument can be surmised into “drake had too many features”.. it’s essentially everyone’s core critic.. it’s too bloated.. there’s too many songs.. we don’t care about the people besides drake.. yeah well hundreds of millions of people do my guy.. it’s not that anyone’s not capable of having the discussion my super highiq friend.. that’s quite simple.. it’s that the point has become so redundant that it’s become reductive in how it lacks awareness.. you SUBJECTIVELY think this.. I SUBJECTIVELY love all the features.. durk snaps, baby thrives, HOV blesses us, future murders, giveon floats, we got the best Wayne verse in a decade, Travis left his guts out in that feature.. what you want me to discuss is why I think DRAKES album sounds better how YOU want it.. your points have been asserted by others in one form or another ad nauseam

im not reading your essay complaining about the album a day after it drops im gonna sit back and just keep listening

there's a 0% chance you will agree with half the things you just wrote a year from now

    ed comment.

  • It’s all calculated. Drake knows better than anyone that to stay relevant to the masses he has to encapsulate other fan bases and this is how to do that. The features are fine anyway imo. Before hearing the album I thought there were too many but it’s honestly not overbearing at all

  • The back and forth on knife talk is great

  • Sep 5, 2021

I kinda get what you mean OP. I still think it’s a great album. But definitely see how it’s a little all over the place in terms of the sounds, and I really wish Drake was more dominant in songs like Way 2 Sexy

Almost every feature on the album, either…

    1. Would’ve been better off as a DRAKE feat on the featured artist’s album.

    or

    2. Was needlessly shoehorned onto the latter half of a track.

    Examples of (1):

    • Girls Like Girls would’ve been better off as a Drake feat on a Lil Baby album.

    • In The Bible could’ve easily been a Drake feat on a Lil Durk album.

    • Way 2 Sexy sounds way more like a Future or Thug song, than it does a Drake song.

    • Knife Talk is so clearly a 21 song that Drake hopped on and got from him.

    • Fountains was hardly even a Drake song. Would’ve been a nice feature if it were on TEMS album.

    • IMY2, again, sounded way more like a Cudi song than a Drake song.

    Examples of (2):

    • I know we only know this cause of the leak, but adding Jay and cutting off the outro of Love All was such a huge mistake.

    • Fair Trade would’ve been 10x better without Travis, I’m sorry (and I’m a big fan of Travis).

    • N 2 Deep is really good in the first half, then he had to go with that beat switch and add Future on it, which I feel was super unnecessary.

On a DRAKE album, I expect all of the songs to have a distinct Drake sound and any featured artists have to work with what he has to achieve harmony. Instead, almost all the features on this album, sounded like they originally belonged to the featured artists, Drake hopped on it, and then just took it for his own and put it on the album.

Because of this, the vibes of this album are all over the place. It’s scatterbrained and asynchronous. There’s no cohesion or rhyme or reason to anything really.

Taken individually, I don’t have too many issues with the songs themselves. As a collective, as a project tho… it’s a mess and disappointing.

I think that’s the beauty of it. We can literally make our own perfect drake album by removing some songs or adding the leaks etc. There’s something there for everyone. People will eventually stop with the BS and once the smoke clears CLB will go down as a decent drake project. 7.5/10

Lol, but it’s not tho. The core of my gripe is that the features are more __ featuring drake and not drake featuring __.

I’m completely fine with the amount of features AND who was featured.

So high IQ or not, if you had the comprehension level to understand what I said in my original post, you wouldn’t have had to write everything you wrote that is missing my point entirely.

Of course everything is subjective. So to have a conducive conversation, others can provide their feedback and not just s*** post.

Your overall conclusion is “ As a collective, as a project tho… it’s a mess and disappointing.” you’re disappointed because YOU think DRAKES songs sound like other artists songs with drake features.. YOU’RE disappointed because drake didn’t make songs YOU think sound like ‘real drake’ songs.. I’m clearly comprehending your point and you’re not adding anything to the conversation.. you’re mad at drakes album cuz clb, the features in particular, don’t sound how YOU want it to sound and/or make the album sound worse to YOU... ok guess he’s not YOUR artist anymore YOUR disappointed and YOU don’t like clb.. it happens, not sure how it adds to conversation just tells us about your feelings
