Thread reminds me that I actually had this s*** on my first few psychedelic trips, I would sit in the dark with music playing and my bedroom would change colors depending on the music Flowerboy would make my bedroom turn yellow, Lonerism made it turn a shade of pink, Awaken my love sounded blue etc.

On like my fifth trip, I realized I was just seeing the light from my monitor. I had VLC open and the lighting in my room would change because of the screenshot of the album cover

Nope synesthesia is not real and there’s no conclusive evidence for it.

Does it have to be color?

When I’m high and I listen to music I feel movements. Like twisting, cracking, rushing, slowing down, punching, jerking, etc. I feel like that might be the same thing everyone has tho

There are plenty different variations of it that include all 5 senses

this dumb as s*** lmao your brain makes connections to other areas of your brain that stimulate different senses. the brain acting like that is completely normal. just because you dont have it dont mean act like it dont exist. just cuz u aint special dont mean u gotta act like u are

It's very real and has been studied quite a bit. I learned about it in my Cognition class AND perception class.

Yes there is do you want me to find you a study? I don't know if you'll have access to it without uni access or some s*** tho

edit been known for 200 years too www-annualreviews-org.ezproxy.gvsu.edu/doi/10.1146/annurev-psych-113011-143840

its basically your brain taking stimuli and putting it in the wrong places. You end up perceiving the wrong s*** in weird ways. Its really not that hard to believe especially when they can objectively test for it. Its not only based on self report. In this study they use a modified stroop task to determine the level of synesthsia by taking objective data on how the participants perform.
