im interning at a recording studio this summer bc my college has an internship requirement. for context, I spent my freshman and sophomore year working part-time as a recording engineer. I'm very familiar with pro tools and I know how to work a studio. When I signed on for this, I thought I would be doing more of that work, just in a different studio.

but I come to find out that this studio I'm interning at is pretty s***. it's in a crappy part of town, and the guy can't afford to pay me. at first I was kinda tight about it, but then i found out what i was expected to do, and it made sense. The guy has me wrapping cables, taking out the trash, cleaning up rooms, etc. And then when I'm not doing some menial task, I just sit on the couch, totally ignored.

at first, I didn't really mind. I found a job i can work around the internship schedule, so I'm still getting paid somehow, and the stuff I do at the studio isn't hard work. But it's been a few months now and I'm realizing I haven't learned S***!

I have to pay my college for this, it's treated like a class in their system. That's real money spent on this, and I've gotten literally nothing out of it. I really don't know what to do about this either, I mean I don't want to be pushy and ungrateful, and I'm literally bottom of the totem pole.

I guess it's not that big of a deal, I'm doing a good job of finding success and building connections on my own. If I finish this without learning anything at all, I'll probably be fine, but its still pissing me off how useless this internship is. idk, I want to hear what u guys think I should do.

Jokes aside I feel bad for you op. I did a practicum and it was like a discounted class that only met online 1 time a week and I was making like 20/hr for the actual job I think but I ended up getting 5 credits due to the hours I worked

That's how I viewed my first job in my study during my undergrad and now I'm like 4 years in while doing a specialized masters program
