The CDC director is completely correct and all of these people complaining are just denying reality and trying to make something about themselves. You'd have to be an idiot to read what she said and think "she is saying she wants me dead".
Part of accommodating disability is admitting the fact that being disabled is a setback in terms of access and health (in whatever fashion said disability manifests); it doesn't need to be "shameful", but to act like there are not unique specifications around health conditions is ridiculous. The more we obscure this by acting like there isn't differentiation in disabilities the less we can actually do accommodate people with disabilities to begin with.
no one is saying their lives don't matter, they should be more careful than someone without comorbidities so they don't catch it
but that should not be forced on someone who doesn't have those issues
also just because you have comorbidities does not mean you're disabled
twitter is garb
Wild that we’re already at the point of casual eugenics discussion as a lesser evil
thats not what she said at all
they are right
im confused is op trying to say they're wrong?
People hate the disabled plain and simple. Esther it’s physical, mental, or general health disabilities. It becomes more apparent with statements like this.
Responses itt aren’t going to get it from a perspective of not dealing with any form of disability. Intent isn’t the problem here, but how the message was relayed. And the general public’s pov on seeing this. We’ve known since day 1 most people’s mindset is “if you’re in good health you’ll be fine, if not then oh well tough luck” the fact people carelessly spread it around knowing that there are people at severe risk they completely disregard is the problem. Because to that person it’s not their fault someone has underlying issues. There is little empathy for the sick other than meaningless gestures of false empathy.

eh that isn't true, if you're at risk you should take more precautions since it's your health
screwing people who aren't really effected doesn't make sense at a certain point especially when we're going on two years....
no it isn't their fault but at some point it's their responsibility to do what they need to do to stay healthy
people don't hate the disabled, people hate being told what to do when it really shouldn't effect them
She definitely didn’t say this in the best way but the general approach to how we view disability as a society is still in need of a lot of work. That much has been clear through people’s “just live with it” mentality. I think people forget just how much if the population are living with a disability or some kind of chronic illness.
Also the fact that long covid has the potential to create more people living with some kind of chronic illness, which in turn strains our health care systems going forward, makes me believe that we should be more cautious of the “just live it” attitude.

There’s only so much you can do when it’s not entirely up to you. It’s one thing to take precautions for yourself and be extra safe. Doesn’t mean anything if the people you may have to be forced to be around don’t do the same. Someone with underlying health issues who HAS to see nurses, doctors, etc, who just do whatever because they shouldn’t have to be “screwed over” are the ones getting these people sick. And it’s also family members, random encounters, etc. it’s called being mindful of those around you. Something people have refused to do since day 2 and the reason we are 2 years into this mess.
People absolutely hate the disabled in general and that’s objective. I can say this from multiple perspectives

People think of themselves too highly and seriously and it shows in their behaviour
"It could never happen to me" but it could happen to everybody else you moron
Shows how selfish people really are, that you tell them they get vaccinated for the greater good yet won't take an incredibly small risk(unquantifiable really) to develop any side effects from the vaccine

Are u seriously saying disabled people should be more responsible than people who are litteraly not disabled and can be way more responsible because they simply CAN?
People who think everything boils down to personal responsibility are already in the wrong but using this mentality against disabled people? Now that's something else
Well that’s how a lot of anti-vaxx anti-mask a******s feel
Well they were already unhealthy! They were gonna die regardless!
COVID really showed you who is who. Who are the people that care about the greater good of the world and protecting people you don’t even know
And who are the a******s that cared about only themselves and don’t care who they hurt or kill with their reckless actions
People who think everything boils down to personal responsibility are already in the wrong but using this mentality against disabled people? Now that's something else
that's how life works... in some cases you have to take things into your own hands a bit...
can you stop quoting me? you're always complaining
