There’s a lot of things drake has done great over the years but I think his strength is more as an overall artist, when people start talking like this or 5am are top tier rapping in the grand scheme of things it makes me question how much rap they even listen to. His straight rapping s*** in this era was dope but not top tier

There are so many legends and even more recent artists who rap at an elite level, they don’t get the same fanfare but that’s not what this conversation is about. Drake has some awesome rap stuff but nothing even half as good as Jay’s 3rd verse of Smile for example.

For example I am a huge lupe fan but drake is on the same level or better than these names cuz he just raps naturally good and lyricism is just a part of it. But those names u mentioned are TRYING to be lyrical. They could be better lyrically but if you ask me how you are using the lyricism is more imporant than how good you are lyrically and drake is just better than them using the lyricism even tho he is not the better lyricist. I might be looking at the situation more overall but lyricism just by itself isnt enough for me you gotta make a good art with it if you are an artist/rapper
