They were working together in the early 2000s, they had studio sessions together and Ye did D12 World

These discs were right there, the MP discs, but there were cameras. So I said, look, I know I’m on camera but f*** it. I’m going to try and get as many sounds copied before they come in. I started copying them and I thought I had something, but the next thing I know an engineer comes in and straight grabs the disk and leaves.

I started seeing how he (Eminem) do, doing s*** I wouldn’t do because I still had certain rules… I was seeing how he truncated sounds, like chopping the air completely. It gives it a certain sound, the sound he wanted. I learned a lot going through Eminem’s drum set. Hopefully he’ll take that as a compliment.

??? This was 2015. His breakout single Chillin' came out in 2009. The MMG era was 2010-2014. Wale had arguably already peaked at this point.

Also why shouldn't he have put it on a mixtape? It's not hit material. It's not even a particularly good song. Wale didn't miss out on anything. Compare w/ Jukebox Joints from the same period, a song Kanye passed over to Rocky, with a similar lack of effort on Kanye's part. Rocky put it on his album, gave it a video, and it barely charted.
