Ye just dropped a terrible album with zero replay value. 😂 y’all forgot already. We’ll see how it matches up with drakes next album.

    Jik been on replay

You crazy if you didn't like at least 4 or more songs.

You people don’t understand what being cancelled is if you think people who are still relevant, famous and making money from their career are cancelled. Cancelled means no longer having the same opportunities in the media, corporate partnerships, their platform, etc.

Like for example, R Kelly is cancelled. He ain’t gonna be making money from new s*** any more, he’s got no options, no companies want to work with him. His general public image is negative

Yeah I said rappers but I’m using R Kelly as a solid example of what a cancelled career. Kanye saying some other s*** to get negative attention in the media isn’t being cancelled, because people still f*** with Kanye and he still has a career.

    So Chris Brown isn't cancelled?
He beat up Rihanna and his career hasn't been the same since.

Yea he still makes money cause his core is strong but he will never reach pre-Rihanna peaks because of his actions.

Same with kanye with the swift moment. He literally got blackballed.

Cee lo green is a creep but ppl were still playing his music. For a hot minute.

Ross got his sponsorship pulled for this rapey verse. He still here.

    Tiger f***ing woods.

That's in no way indicative of modern day "cancel culture."

She got publicly shamed for blowing a married man (the President). It's such an extreme case of personal misdeeds going public.

She got most of the blowback (pun unintended) because of the times and the scale.

Not saying its the same level of misdeed but Kevin Spacey was public shamed and ousted cause he did some f***ed up s***. It's okay to not want to watch movies with a molester.

No one has a problem with that, cuz some s*** you should be publicly shamed out of a career for doing, but "cancel culture" is mainly a vocal minority of people on twitter trying to end people's careers for s*** they said in the past.

And that doesn't really actually happen.

I noticed that cancel culture changes depending on who you speak to. For some people, it only refers to people being unjustly criticized and for others, it's the whole thing entirely. What I'm referring to is the whole thing entirely. I said something similar in another post in this thread as to what you did, in the case of celebrities, it's highly selective and largely ineffective but that doesn't mean it's not real and I'm not saying cancel culture is inherently bad for example Weinstein and R Kelly. Also, it's not really indicative of the time as you said, all you really need is to create a villainous narrative and run with it such as the example in the video you linked with the aunt suing her nephew. Aside from that, I don't like it when people section off cancel culture to celebrities and ignoring the fact that people do the same s*** to each other all the time. Even if we cornered it off to like social media, people engage in canceling albeit on a smaller scale in insular communities usually, but nevertheless bad and engage in s*** like harassment, doxing, etc.

Well public shaming has always been around, and torpedoing one's own career dates pre-internet as well.

To me, cancel culture is this concept of bloodthirsty internet warriors ready to end someone whose ever done anything wrong in their life, often overly extreme. It's a modern phenomena that gets over hyped and rarely has lasting impact unless they did something so twisted they deserve a banning from society, ala Cosby.

And yeah ousting people can sometimes be more effective on smaller scales like within a community because people are gossipy f***s and its easier to ruin someone's reputation on a town-wide scale rather than a country-wide one.

So while celebrities are open to scrutiny from a larger group of people, it can work in their favor sometimes as it blows over over time and some new gossip takes center stage.
