He said 1 line about vaccines and white redditors never looked back
Meanwhile y'all don't keep the same energy for other rappers who had anti vax lines like Gibbs, Jay Rock and Big Sean

Stillmatic is not a classic just because Ether and One Mic are on it
I was around in 2001 I'd know
Ether
Got yourself a
Rewind
2nd childhood
One mic
You're da man
Those are classic nas songs.
It didn't have to be decided in 2001- music doesn't stop being talked about after the yearr it's released hence why illmatic went platinum years after it's release for example

You're da Man and Ether are the definition of classics
Idk if stillmatic as an overall body of work is something I’d consider a classic but there’s a ton of highs on there that went a huge way in re-establishing him as that guy, so idk
I would say he has the strongest catalogue against time out of any rapper. I’d ballpark that he has about 12 albums, and outside of Nastradamus/I Am (which were foiled by leaks), SD and generally speaking, one of HHID or Untitled, you can revisit and get something new out of all of those projects
There’s literally no one, other than his eternal rival, that has played ball at this level for this length of time

Also lol at hov avi questioning whether Ether is a classic - you're not slick bro

I Am >>> Nastradamus
I Am is a very good album.

I mean we know why you don’t wanna call ether a classic
I Am >>> Nastradamus
I Am is a very good album.
I don’t think a project with Dr Knockboot can be considered very good, but there’s some great individual highlights
The argument that the other guy had, that Stillmatic had some great individual tracks but wasn’t a classic project, that’s what I’d use for I Am. Nas is Like is a top ~10 Nas song for me, the Aaliyah and DMX songs are great, Hate Me Now and NY Pt. 2 are obviously high tier…but I don’t ever feel the need to listen to that album front to back
To me, a classic album is one that I feel the need to just put on and step away
I Am is going to be closer to Nastradamus than the two projects before them or Stillmatic after, that’s why I threw it with that
It’s certainly not something that’s “timeless” as an entire project

Tbh, some of his best songs are on that album, the problem is some of the production hasn’t aged well IMO, still a great album. That first run of tracks, then Nas is like and undying love

Idk to me Stillmatic is a 9.5/10+ album and I Am is at least an 8/10
