Simple Things is such a beautiful track!! Soulful f***ing music with powerful poetic words
i mean, idk. they should have communicated better and nas shoulda had more time. nas and ye is a legendary combo, and they both botched it pretty bad. we could be talking about that as another classic in nas' catalog.
some of the lyrics he was spitting just threw me off. a few lines about anti-vaxing and talking about fox news and s*** lol. he was kind of just peddling contrarian ideas
He mostly focused on braggadocious and luxury rap cuz that's what Ye asked him to rap about - his lifestyle, Ye said that's his fav style from Nas
The lyrics on Adam and Eve tho
Coming from someone who've listened to them probably more than anyone else I disagree, Nasir clearly had a problem of pasting acapellas over beats while it didn't perfectly fit, Ye wasn't focused on music at the time, his ear was off.
Is there a track in particular that makes you feel that way, or even maybe a verse or couple bar scheme if you have one in mind? Kanye hasn’t been focused on music in 7 years but I don’t feel like he had any hand in putting the acapellas on the beats, or frankly even making the beats, as half of them have allegations of being stolen. I think Ye is so unfocused on music that he doesn’t do it anymore, if anyone put Nas acapellas on a beat it was Andrew Dawson or whoever else was credited. I personally didn’t really hear Nas as being that off though and I feel like it was just something that caught on. He sounded flabby but not like it was pasted to me. At least not badly or in an offbeat way

Ye was still the one in charge as the main producer, he heard the result and gave it the OK where it was his responsibility to tell Nas to re-record, which is what producers are meant to do. Especially super producers, if you check out interviews with Just Blaze, Dr. Dre, Pharrell for example, that's exactly what they do.
On some tracks like Adam and Eve Nas sounded great and then on some other tracks it was off.

Yo you might’ve hit the nail on the head. The antivax thing was a huge controversy even on ktt people were freaking out about it. That’s what made the reception bad

I ain’t really hear him being off like that tho I just think Adam and Eve best suited him best

It was just one line, and then when Gibbs and Sean said it they didn't care lol

Felt like people were killing Nas for that and the Fox News line or whatever tho

Cops Shot the Kid was a super lazy verse from him, but on this remix for example his flow sounds way doper, so you know the beat was the issue.

Mostly suburban dweebs who listen to Brockhampton and s*** tbh, they called King's Disease a "misogynistic" album too and some of them work as critics.
Never really figured out why nerds are so passionate about their hate for Nas tbh and use him to promote agendas.
Like chill bro it's hip hop, not everything you're gonna hear is family-friendly

That’s what I’m saying, I feel like a lot of that was what caused the hate on the album because most Kanye fans are nerds. I didn’t listen to that remix yet but like you said, it was a lazy verse. And it was a weird beat. I don’t think Nas sounded off though it’s just a very unorthodox track, his slow flow with a lot of space actually worked for the beat though, if anything I’d just say the beat wasn’t good

Yeah the beat was flawed and the remix proves it, when you get to hear it it'll be clear as day to you
Felt like an unfinished beat tbh, the idea behind it was interesting but it wasn't polished and fleshed out
Nasir was definitely an album for the Ye crowd.
If you look at RYM you'll see that it has received a lot more ratings than Nas' other albums besides Illmatic.

I’d be understanding if people said Ye dropped the ball on the beats, that s*** was kind of a mess, but it’s the commentary about Nas flow that I don’t really get so much. Why didn’t people have the same criticism for Daytona which seems to be mostly recorded on other beats and then pasted on the Ye ones? You could argue it’s because Ye paid more attention to Push but I feel like it’s because Push flow is just a lot better than Nas right now

I don't feel like that's true tbh, like I said besides a few songs on Nasir Nas' flow is still really dope to me and I appreciate the evolution. Sounds very masterful actually, doesn't get enough respect cuz most ppl don't care about the craft like that anymore. Older ppl get it tho.

I don’t think Nas is weak or anything but I just didn’t notice that big of a difference between his flow on Kings Disease and Nasir. Kings is definitely better but I still felt like he wasn’t as smooth as he was

Well like I said he explained in interviews that he has adapted to how rappers say less now, that's the only noticeable difference between his rapping on LIG and KD imo. The lyrics have more of a conversational manner but it all still sounds very smooth to me. The "rapid-flow" Nas hasn't been on for a minute bc of it I guess.

i feel like he can still do the rapid flow tho. gibbs goes in like that on alfredo for example, thats up for a grammy this year and got rave reviews. kings disease he was a little bit better than nasir, but if you throw on life is good right after, which is what i did, you can tell a noticeable difference. he just seems to have less energy and hes just in cruise control on these last 2 albums
THE COP SHOT THE KID

THE COP SHOT THE KID
album is very decent, a lot of the Wyoming albums are overhated beside daytona because of the controversy surrounding it, take that away from that rollout. And I'm sure more people would appreciate the music

Yeah I hope to hear it on the next album with DJ Premier or whoever tbh, if not then I'll know that he's officially over it
