Screening tonight at Telluride?

The mystery surrounding Telluride’s secret A24 screening now appears to have been solved.

A source close to the matter tells me Nathan Fielder’s long-rumored project about Elizabeth Holmes is our answer. Yes, that’s the 174-minute screening that will be shown this evening at Telluride.

The connection actually dates back to March 2025, when The InSneider reported that Fielder had made multiple visits to Holmes at the federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, where she is serving an 11-year sentence. Sneider described the project as “top-secret” and suggested it could be a documentary or some kind of experimental project.

Six months later, the pieces appear to have fallen into place for a Telluride premiere. Fielder’s film is an A24 acquisition that was reportedly picked up only recently following a heated bidding war. A cut was shown, and it impressed enough that multiple studios were fighting to acquire it.

Obviously, with the project still being kept tightly under wraps, there’s no release date yet — or even a title. But I gather that after tonight’s screening, we’ll know a whole lot more.

Holmes is the disgraced founder of Theranos, the blood-testing startup that promised to revolutionize medical testing with technology that could supposedly run hundreds of tests from a tiny amount of blood. Theranos collapsed after reporting exposed that the technology did not work as claimed, and Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors. She was sentenced to over a decade in federal prison.

A Nathan Fielder project about Holmes was never going to be a typical documentary, so reports that the Telluride secret film is some kind of “hybrid” are pretty telling. Knowing Fielder, this is probably going to be very strange.
